At Under The Volcano in Houston. One of my favorite bars and books. Drinking a beer and reading Malcolm Lowry's last novel October Ferry to Gabriola. All is right with the world.

"The two poor, shabby, half-starved lone old Englishmen seated under those fake ye olde coache and horses lanterns, in which burned sinister bulbs that glowered all spring afternoon, still fostered some crepuscular illusion that this was their favorite brew (and who dared say English were not a great and tragic race when even their favorite drink was bitter?)

Hacker-Pschorr Munich Gold, and smoked salmon plate.



Finished up with a glorious Saint Arnold Commitment, Imperial Stout.

 

Great beer if I can find it fresh. I’ve switched from a Citra guy to Mosaic.

Well, five hours later and a short nap, in between, the White Sox ended their season. Their GM, Rick Hahn, traded both winning pitchers to their opponent, the Oakland A's, for mid-30s Jeff Samardzija and Todd Frazier. The sun has officially gone down today, and on the 2020 Chicago White Sox.

Therefore, I am drowning in my sorrows with an unplanned beer. Have a good one, Deschutes Lil' Squeezy.

An unexciting gose from Lough Gill...

Wild Irish Gose kettle sour (4% abv)...

Earlier a decent cider from Beak & Skiff...

1911 Cider Donut featuring brown sugar and spices (6.9% abv)...

But a great vodka followed the cider...

Hammer + Sickle featuring black earth winter wheat; distilled and filtered 6x...

Not really watching the Jets-Broncos game but its on - the Jets are as bad as they can be and Darnold is clearly a bust - so is coach Gase - time to clean house (again) and start over (again) - and as for the Broncos? Well I really don't give a shit about the Broncos lol...

Here in Richmond, until Covid it was impossible to get a Veil beer, tap or can, unless you went to the brewery. Yours truly stood in many a beer line over the previous three years. Kinda sucked but I got to meet and talk to a lot of folks not only not from Richmond but from other states. But now Veil ships to many states. Check their website if interested.
