I'm used to seeing a Mexican lager garnished with a lime wedge or a Belgian wit with an orange slice. But I'm seeing more places do elaborate garnishes like donut holes with stouts or cinnamon rimmer on pumpkin ales. What are you seeing locally? Is this cool or too much?

    Haz not seen.

Would mock mercilessly if I did.

I would also eat the damn doughnut hole, cuz I'm not stupid.

Would love if they "garnished" with a rare, 16oz T-bone and lobster tail.

Ughhhhh I don’t need cake with my beer. I don’t even want a lime or orange wedge.

When is a beer just going to be a beer and stop being flavored like other things? Honestly don’t understand.

    Enjoy

I don't know if this is for real, but I recall in a recent thread where I think it was @FBarber referred to a Wisconsin beer being garnished (or should be garnished) with a cheese curd. When a garnish can double as a snack that goes well with beer, well I'm okay with that. Cover the entire rim if you want. :stuck_out_tongue:

An orange slice on the rim of an Oberon? Nope, and I don't care how traditional it is.

Obviously, I've seen the citrus wedges in the appropriate brew. I usually pass on this, unless the bartender gives me one without asking if I want it.

Bread in my beer? Hard pass. Spiced rim? Um, no. I haven't seen either and don't care to.

That said, it's hard for me to criticize, because we do some weird things to beer on the barren prairie. Here in South Dakota, people sometimes ask for a "red beer," which is invariably a lite macro (usually Miller or Coors Lite) with tomato juice--no, not as a side, but in the beer. It's so commonly requested, that most bars here keep a large bottle of tomato juice at the ready so they don't have to resort to the small cans. Some people add green olives to this and call it a "South Dakota martini."

It must be solely a Great Plains thing, because even in the Twin Cities, a few hours away, if you order a "red beer," the bartender will say "Come again?" My father-in-law ordered one in Boston, and after explaining to the barkeep what it was, I thought we were going to get thrown out.

I once had a plain Berliner Weisse and I can see why so many examples of this style have fruit added in the form of syrup and what not. I enjoyed this Beer (White Birch) however if I do a revisit I just might drop in a strawberry or a few raspberries.

I have no interest in a spiced rim on my Pumpkin Beer, so many are over spiced as is.

I will not stand idly by while someone turns my Beer into a martini.

    Cheers.

And this is my vote for the best pic of a garnished Beer. Holy ______.
It's an elaborate shrimp/seafood cocktail, I could totally chow down on that and I'm not sure what some of the other stuff is!

Do you guys not have mariscos restaurants on the east coast? Basically southern coastal Mexican seafood joints. I'd highly recommend that anyone who enjoys seafood and even might like Mexican food a little bit search for "mariscos" near them and check it out. Amazing food when they are legit. Ironically, I would generally advise against ordering beer cause (out here) its usually like $6 for a bottle or can of modelo. That michelada is probably like fuckin $35

Red Beer is nationwide. Out here in the Fourth Corner, they generally use Clamato instead of tomato juice, but, I've been coast-to-coast, and line-to-line, Red Beers are in every true local/neighborhood/dive. Not these hipster fake dives, where they use fancy ingredients. But true dives, where if you're not known, there's a slight bit of danger.

Locals always look out for locals.

    ALWAYS!

The closest we get to that around here are meat-centric buffets that do have some good seafood. The food here is not "influenced" by Mexican Cuisine. I've been in the Desert South West and many places in California and appreciated the food, good "Tex Mex" is hard to find round here.
