I'm glad to hear we aren't quite the heathens other folk make us out to be. I don't doubt what you're saying, but I wish I had a nickel for every time my wife has gotten a blank stare and a random quizzical noise from a barkeep for asking for a red beer.

Ya I guess it probably comes down to where the immigrant populations are from locally. These places usually have maps and names related to south west, coastal mexico. Like Mazatlan and south along the coast. I'm too intimidated to go there without a group and at least one mostly fluent speaker who knows the drill.

I go alone and end up with a damn fish taco. I go with the family and all of a sudden there's whole fish, platters of seasoned shrimp and squid, a pile of shellfish, like 3 of those micheladas...its the only way

Might be what you call it too. I grew up in lower Michigan and they were always called bloody beers by the older folks. You want a chelada if you're in the southwest

That was my equivalent to a Bloody Mary the morning after over-indulging. Silver bullet with Clamato, a splash of pickle juice and some green olives, accompanying some bacon and eggs. I'm not sure I'd have made it to noon on the ranch on many a Saturday without those.

And to keep this Beer relevant, I would trade the Modelo for Dos Equis Amber.

Yeah, there are various terms used. If in doubt, look down the bar, see the one old guy everybody seems to know, but nobody's talking to, and ask what he's having. Order one of those.

In the mid-90s, I was in a bar in Bar Harbor, Maine and sitting across from me there were what looked like beers being served with something in the bottom of the glass. Couldn't quite make out what it was (coffee beans?) because of the way the light from the windows hit the glasses. Asked the bartender.

Blueberries - - in one of the Maine breweries' blueberry ale (forget which one - Bar Harbor, Atlantic, Sea Dog).

Ex-Coors employee/creator of the Blue Moon flagship beer Keith Villa claims he introduced the orange slice, "inspired" by the citrus slice others were hanging off German wheat beers and Mexican lagers.

I’ve seen the same thing with some elaborate Bloody Marys, everything from bacon, to shrimp, you name it. It it'll stay on a stick they’ll put it in the glass.

I hate limes with Mexican Beers, it makes any beer suck, tart fruit and beer doesn’t work for me. I can see oranges and Wit Beers, I personally think beers like Blue Moon and Hoegaarden basically suck, so anything that tastes good put into it is a plus. I kinda like my beers unspiked with anything, straight up please.

I just read back a bit, I’ve never heard of a red beer. The equivalent here might be Clamato I suppose, but the thought of clams in my beer kinda makes me nauseous. Ugh yuck and no thanks, I can’t imagine that makes any beer taste better even if it’s a shitty beer. It’s like using a flowery room deodorizer after a particularly eye watering nasty fart, it still smells really bad just different, flowery nasty farts is all it is.

I don't think it will get as bad as bloody mary's have. You see those served with hamburgers and pizza slices jammed in the glass. But I do think there is a certain beer customer that will see a toasted marshmallow floating in their stout as decadent and indulgent.

I didn't even post pics of the ones with ceviche, at least all the meat in that version is cooked:astonished:

Many people here will say that this is bad, but many people here indirectly asked for this to happen.
When was the last time someone on BeerAdvocate stated that a flavored stout tasted like straight up liquid Almond Joy and meant that as a negative? It's just the next logical step.
