Have a good Tuesday. I talked to my GF on the phone for 50 minutes and then played some yahtzee with her afterward in the evening. Then I played 6 games of timed chess with one of my old middle school buddies once again, around 3 AM. Been about a week since I played any chess. I decided I am going to get Belgrade Gardens Chicken for dinner tonight. Been a while since I had Barberton Chicken, but I grew up on it, and now I live 15 minutes away from all of them. I can say life is going pretty fucking good now, after a year of hell. I definitely feel better than I have in 5 years. I have definitely been more social than all previous years too.

Short’s The Ooze. Excellent Milkshake NEIPA. Lasting rocky head retention/thick foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big pineapple juice, matcha green tea, tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, berries, citrus peel/zest, cedar, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, vanilla, cream, wheat, white bread dough, light biscuit/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Mild pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness; and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; very creamy/silky/bready malts/lactose, light sticky hops, and slight resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness no hop astringency. Very smooth/soft, minimal warming 6.8%, no hop burn after the finish. Feels like Simcoe and Citra, the matcha tea adds a unique dank cannabis quality that is not overwhelming. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a nice lactose/oat/malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering bitter dryness. No complaints! 4.03

Brasserie Thiriez advocates and their Ambrée, I have heard many times of them and their « family brewery » and very recently, @barrybeerdog mentioned about them to me in a NBW post.

It’s very good! A well balanced amber ale, a bit creamy and very easy to sip on. It’s a 5,8% one. I can’t speak for its availability on the other side of the pond, but if given the chance do try them.

Good day BAs! Off to a foggy start today (the weather, not me) - couldn't see more than 100 yards when I got the morning paper. Today's New Breakfast Beer is one I've been drinking for a few days but haven't had time to review until today:

Lancaster Brewing, while it isn't strictly local (five hour drive), is a brewery that produces slightly above average brews routinely and decent brews occasionally - this one is decent. Not overspiced, very unusual for a pumpkin ale. Probably Lancaster's best beer (that doesn't exist) is Hog's Milk, a 50/50 mixture of their Hop Hog IPA and their Milk Stout.

    Good morning all.

A needed Yeungling this morning with some story time.

Those who see me post probably think I make stories up. But I do not lie about anything no reason to. I don’t use social media so this is my platform for venting u can call it. Just found out I’m going to be a dad last week and now this. I’ll start with that. Yesterday morning I woke up to the sound of banging on doors and my father (who has lieukemia btw and a heart aneurism as well) is having a heart attack. In and out of consciousness. Throwing up. The whole thing. Ambulance shows up. The guy doesn’t know what to do I can see it in his face he’s taking way too long so I took it upon myself to throw my dad into the stretcher myself and into the ambulance. I get to the ER exactly when the ambulance does. Security won’t let me in. So I sit outside the doors for two hours to find out he had emergency surgery because it was the “widow maker” heart attack. Two arteries clogged at 100%. One clogged at 97%.

the man survived first thing he says to me is he’s not going anywhere. He is taking my child his grand baby fishing and he’s making sure of that.

toughest ************ I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I wish I was making this up. Going back to see him again later today.

    cheers BA. Stay healthy please.

Poured a splash of this too...

Essentially 4 year old, 100 proof, unfiltered Jim Beam. Still trying to get a read on it. I'm not a Jim Beam fan.

Bonus obscure 70's & 80's country music from the drive home

Cheers all and enjoy your Tuesday!

Defender IPA in can which is nice and admittedly much fresher, paired with your typical French « Pain au chocolat. »

Hot and sticky morning, 82° and 94% humidity...having coffee break inside - last bottle of High West (2018) BA Victory at Sea:

A big bourbon boozy (12%) beautiful looking barrel aged imperial porter. Some flavors have disappeared and the barrel notes (dry rye/oak) dominate. This beer was too drying for me last October, even more so now. Tasty, but the rye throws off the feel and flavor, for me. Cheers and have a super Tuesday y’all!

Best wishes to your father. He sounds like he's tough enough to take his grandson fishing through sheer force of will. Sometimes that's the key to living more than medical science (although three immensely clogged heart arteries would take more than a strong will to overcome...)...

A best by date of 03/05/20. It still packs a roasty and bitter chocolate taste. I remember not too long ago the debates about SMS versus KBS. I enjoyed them both but preferred KBS. A good thing as I can only get the latter!
