Been a while since I’ve had a Decade. Probably when it came out. Unfortunately, my go to store no longer carries them, but I really like Rocky Patel.

I have a La Aroma de Cuba that I’ll be enjoying this weekend.

A 2017 notch found in the basement stash. It's pretty much all cinnamon at this point. Serviceable enough while building a couple of overhead storage racks for the garage.

Golden yellow body, a bit cloudy; decent carbonation; thick, sticky, sculpted white head; patches of foam cling to the inside of the glass. Sticky, sweet aroma; a touch of honey and pine resin; some suggestion of dried apricot. Sweet and earthy spice taste; peppery hop bitterness. Medium-heavy body; thick with residual sugar; semi-dry with a bit of alcohol warmth.

The beer is classified as a west coast IPA but isn't quite as clear and too sweet of a taste and mouthfeel to compared to OG west coast IPAs. And the smell, while somewhat diverse, isn't very vibrant. Still, the beer tastes fine and generally hides its high ABV quite well.

Clear, pale gold colored body; lively, fine carbonation; thick and frothy white head. Delicate, sweet aroma of crystal malt and gently toasted malts. Very light toasted grain flavor with a touch of honey; medium hop bitterness. Medium body; crisp with some delicate residual sugar notes; gently warm; lightly sticky on the palate; semi-dry mouthfeel overall.

This beer delivers some finely balanced, toasted malt and nicely bittered flavors. It has some body to it yet refrains from hammering you with a heavy finishing gravity. Well-rounded, malt-forward, and very nice...

I am drinking a Sawdust City Twin Pines DIPA. 9.0% ABV and 88 IBU. Made with Amarillo, Galaxy, Idaho 7, Mosaic and Simcoe hops. Bought a 24 pack of this and have been at it quite regularly. One of the better DIPA’s in Ontario.

Also super excited because ten minutes ago I got an email announcing the release of the most recent Collective Arts Origin Of Darkness collabs. There is a Baltic Porter and three Imperial Stouts done with Mikkeller, Pohjala, Civil Society and Mikerphone. Needless to say my order has been placed. Cheers.

Soft and pale yellow body, hazy and creamy looking; thick, frothy white head; sticky bits of foam adhere to the glass. Fresh citrus fruit aroma; orange and banana. Fine, freshly squeezed tangerine and orange flavor; slight biscuit malt backbone; citrus juicy with a low-key hop bitterness. Medium-heavy body; very mild acidity and citrus tanginess; a mild bite.

What a glorious thing to get a hazy IPA that actually smells like fresh citrus and not stale, pithy citrus rinds. And the balance of flavors and overall mouthfeel are quite palatable. A very well crafted hazy IPA...

I did a video doctor call and got 3 months of depression and blood pressure meds being filled up the street. Time to stop suffering!

Blackrocks Bock. Awesome stuff. Great rocky head retention/soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread/crust, toasted biscuit, and roasted nuts; with lighter notes of coffee, chocolate, wood, herbal, grass, and peppery hops. Slight dark fruits. Light herbal, grassy, peppery, roasted bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; very creamy/bready malts, light sticky hops and chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no cloying/acrid flavors. Very smooth/soft, minimal warming 6.5%. Very clean lager flavors minimal fruity/yeasty notes. Awesome clean caramel/munich/roasted malt showcase, with nice noble hop presence/balance. Light residual sweetness with lingering bitter dryness. Spot on style! 4.1

Moving on to Cigar City White Oak Jai Alai. My second time trying this and my esteem has grown. An outstanding beer. Only picked up four but will likely add more. Had the original Jai Alai for the first time in of all places Lisbon, Portugal back in February, just before...well...you know.

Last night I watched the 2008 French film Martyrs on the streaming service Hoopla. I was curious because it frequently shows up on lists of most disturbing films. Technically and thematically it’s quite strong-a real movie-but it’s a film you can’t un-see. Kicks like a mule. There is an almost unrelenting visceral grisliness to the film and it’s among a handful of the most challenging I have ever seen. Up there with Irreversible. So, if you ever come across this and decide to take it for a spin, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Cheers.

Returned to Goose Island Clybourn after hitting downtown, which to update @sportscrazed2 , is more desolate than the 1969s, with most everything border up / closed. Very sad.

Free 6 oz Honkers Ale and 16 oz Throwbock, a 5.5% German Bock brewed at the brewpub. Mango is the bartender this afternoon.

Appearance: Dark bronze murky pour, light creamy tan head dissipates after a hot minute. No visible carbonation. 3.75

    Aroma:
Strong pleasant malt aroma, sweet fresh warm rye bread, lemon backs. 4.25

    Taste:
Rich rye bread taste, neutral / balanced, lightly dry. Rye seeds and pumpernickel, sweetness emerges after initial sips. Nice. 4.0

Mouthfeel: Firm full persistent carbonation throughout, medium creamy body, clean and crisp, sweet malt aftertaste. 4.25

    Overall:
This is a nice bockbier from the Brewhouse, will order again. 4.0

Chicago’s very own Curtis on, now you are blessed as well.

Inspired by @TheGent I'm trying out a new-to-me cigar (New Cigar Wednesday!) along with a very-familiar-to-me beer: Aardwolf El Mariachi on a lazy afternoon.

This was surprisingly good (not the El Mariachi; that's unsurprisingly good :grinning: ). Nicaraguan tobacco; very straight forward, great burn.

    Cheers!
