I know, it's kinda funny actually. I admit I was a proud echo in that echo chamber for many years.

Heck, there has been a call for you and I to stop being patronizing, when the attitude of many/most craft beer drinkers toward light lager lovers, the overwhelming majority of beer drinkers in every beer country in the world, is extremely patronizing and dismissive. Many think of these folks as mindless drones who drink beer they dislike because they're brainwashed by TV ads. Talk about patronizing and dismissive. I find comparable attitude in the classical music community too, and it pisses me off there as well.

I did mention in my previous post: "And sometimes BA folks get quite annoyed when they are reminded that Adjunct Lagers are the preferred beer of choice worldwide...".

It would appear that I am prescient here.

    Cheers!

Annoyance is an important step on the path to enlightenment. Cheers, my friend!

This is a forum where people, by an overwhelming majority, are interested in talking about "craft" beer (probably each by our own personal definition). Very few people here are unaware that this is a major niche product. If you're speaking about the total global beer market, as opposed to the sliver represented by "craft" beer you should make that clear because it is not the normal scope of conversations on this board and man of us will assume you are speaking specifically about the craft beer market. Sorry for the confusion

I personally don't think there's anything to apologize for. You were talking about Von Trapp and then someone inserted words into your mouth (so to speak) and started talking about light lager / AAL / non-"craft", as if you somehow didn't get it. So either they're being obtuse or they're legitimately dense.

You can be excused by your join date for being unaware of the many discussions here about whether this site's raison d'etre, Respect Beer, means respect all beer, or whether it means respect only beers certain cognoscenti choose to be worthy of respect. I fall on the respect all beer side of the fence.

zzzzzzzzz. sorry, i had to add my stupid 2 cents. my controversial opinion is when i start an negative opinion forum and everyone wants to jump on me ad nauseum until the moderator cancels my post. GOOD, because if we're not mature enough to pontificate, cool word, look it up, then why are we here? both positive and negative pov's can be heard, maturely. i've been around, forever, guys, and i know where craft's been, and where it's at today, i don't know the future, duh, but i do know that the current NE IPA'S craze is stupid, yes, it's my opinion, and i'm entitled to it. i will not be responding, everyone pick on me now ... hooray. lmao

Yep. These big generational shifts are always interesting. People are not going to not drink. Many years ago wine coolers like California Cooler bred the real cab and zin snobs of a few years later. All of the hazy shit sells but it mystifies me; and it does seem to be trans-generational. Ain't nuthin permanent!

Except, perhaps, our collective desire to see things stay the same as they were when we got interested in them!
