    I debated whether to add the beer as a new one or not, but because of their "ghost" numbering system and the two percentage point difference from their Ghost 778 version, I figured why not? It seems to be a gray area with adding new beers and how significantly different they may be from other versions. I seem to recall reading a forum thread about such things only a few days ago...

    Any way, I've had a few of their beers in the past. Like 'em overall...

    Black-ish dark brown body; thick and spongy off-white head. Malted milk balls and cocoa greet the nose; vague fruity notes; some earthy spiciness; milk chocolate. Sweet milk chocolate taste right off; a bit of cinnamon spiciness; prominent alcohol flavor leaks through the sweetness; boozy, barrel-aged quality, more whiskey-like than rum. Heavy body yet a tad airy; a mild oiliness; strong alcohol heat cuts through the residual sugar texture.

    I like this beer yet it seems to sacrifice some things to a rather strong alcohol presence. But, hey, at 13.4% ABV, one should expect such things. On further reflection, I get the coffee and vanilla, but it all seems a bit off, as in not quite mixing as nicely together with the other elements of the beer as one might hope for. Perhaps the biggest thing for me is that the barrel aging has more of a bourbon quality, more hot and biting instead of a sweeter, fuller rum kind of presence. Well, it's a good beer, nearly great overall. I wouldn't mind trying it again to see if a different day gives an improved impression.

    Made quick work of the Nordic pale ale and moved on to this exceedingly delicious Victory Festbier. Tastes more like a straight-up amber ale on steroids, like a heavier Bells Amber. Which is awesome.

    Had a contested hearing actually in a courtroom today for the first time since the Covid started. Sort of stressful, but worked out ok.

    Running on empty (work sucking the life out of me this week). Gave up for the night and time to sit down with a beer. I've had inconsistent experiences with this beer. Not sure if it's a variance from batch to batch, or age. Regardless, this wasn't hitting the spot as much as normal, but still good.

    Yeah, your addition makes sense. I was mainly bitching about back when we visited the brewery often and I was trying to maintain their stuff and it just got annoying. Old wounds :wink:

    Have you had a variety, or just IPAs? They've done crazy flavored stouts for years, and in the past few started doing the fruited "Goses."

    A good day. Got the stitches from my dermatologist's latest excavations removed. Took an old Mountain bike off the wall, put new tires on it, and went out and rode some sandhills trails.
