Theo e good think with being seasonal if you see it you know it’s fresh. Nothing more depressing than the obligatory grab a Union Jack, check the date, sadly shake your head, put it back and move on.

found it at a local campground randomly. Solid 4/5. About 1 month since canning date. (Sorry I make memes).

I was so happy when I stumbled upon this at my local shop. Only about 6 weeks old. Unfortunately, as soon as I poured it something looked wrong. The head was very thing, fizzled like a soda and was completely gone in about a minute. not even any lacing. for a DIPA? Not good. Not surprisingly after seeing that, the beer itself is flat. Have had two from the same sixer now. both the same. very disappointed.

Still haven't seen this one around. Firestone Walker's distribution is always bafflingly slow

Replying to my own post. The next two from the same sixer had better head retention than the first two. Not sure why but the last have actually been quite good. Just wanted to be fair in my analysis.

Man, if they ever came out with a retro box of Double Jack, Pale 31, Opal and Solace I'd be all over it six ways from Sunday. Or perhaps switch out Solace for a bottled version of Unfiltered DBA.

Oh man. That would be amazing.

Also, the fact that you mentioned Unfiltered DBA: HUGE PROPS. I’m not gonna say it was the most underrated beer FW has made...but it was the most underrated beer FW has made lol. Only had it on tap once and it was so delicious that I still think about it to this day. Ugh, i can’t even find regular DBA anymore. Sad.

After almost 10 years away from beer the first beer I tried was FW DBA. It’s a masterpiece. I remember hearing (back in the day) homebrew recipes that always won awards were clones of dba.
    Double Jack was nothing special.

So I live 2 hours North of the brewery and I still can't get this beer. Thoroughly pissing me off.

How does Firestone have the worst distribution? I don't see much beyond the brown boxes and seemingly random 12 pack drops and I see posts from people on the east coast that clearly get a number of their brands but its all 2 months old (which, I bought a tall can of Union Jack earlier this year just cause it was about 6 weeks old which is record freshness for me). What the fuck is going on here?

    I honestly have no idea.

I had essentially given up hope of trying it fresh (all the info seemed to say it was epic fresh but bad When older).
Then I camped at the local KOA campground with my child and changed my evening to much more drunk.
The funniest part was the elderly lady that rung me up was like “I think our beer distributors do experiments on us because they give us these random beers I’ve never heard of”.
    No joke , actual quote.

I was like baby, “I’ll distribute all over you.”
Ok that last part wasn’t real. Lol.

From my perspective, they're a brewery that would be much better off being much smaller.than they actually are. They're not built to be a.nationally distributed brewery

I have no additional information on the Pale, friend. Yes, my interest in FW anything is lagging. They have expanded and need to pay off that investment in what they think sells, I guess. I wish them success, but I don't buy much FW these days.

Well, at least down here in OC, they're distributed by Harbor and that should tell you enough.
