That's been my go-to IPA for the past year, and it's right in my wheelhouse. When it's 'on' it's really assertive but never crosses the line. It's not purely West Coast either, in terms of the feel or some of those tropical subtones; definitely leans that way, though.

Absolutely! I'm not a big hop head anymore but when in the mood could easily drink this one...and the 8% is well hidden too.

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz tulip glass canned on 10/7/2020. Pours a very attractive dark orange with a half finger white head that leaves some thin streaks of lace with solid retention. 4.25

Smell is pumpkin, nutmeg, vanilla, and brown sugar. 4

Taste follows pumpkin, nutmeg, brown sugar, and vanilla really pretty darn tasty. 4.25

Mouthfeel is medium, plenty of life, and at 6.6% really easy drinking. 4.25

This is a really nice pumpkin beer and I love that they actually canned it in October maybe hoping some people will be able to enjoy later into the Fall. 4.25

Ooh, I love that: "Gimmicks." Not adjuncts, or additives, or flavorings; fully embracing it with gimmicks. :grinning:

Arkansas was one of my "missing" states until I received @jdell15's box. I have to say I've been impressed with East Sixth and Ozark. You guys have a great beer scene!

Squeezing one in today. Much like the Giants win....
    Proclamation Full Pomp Triple IPA
Pours a turbid orange juice with a marshmallow like 2 finger head that has a very long stay until leaving a thin white cap with loads of sticky lacing.
Aroma is dank melon, crushed pineapple and fresh squeezed orange juice, mango, peach, and hints of dank cannabis.
Taste follows with fresh sweet tropical and citrus juices, fresh cut melon and peach followed by a green hoppy and pithy bitterness.
The feel is fairly soft and fluffy for a 9.5% that shows little of its strength. The body is medium/full and the sweetness up front is followed by that drying green bitterness.
Proclo has a recipe for big Triples that works. This is another. Glad I grabbed the 4 pack which incidentally is at least 4 bucks less that any other beer in this category. And its local. Cheers.[IMG]

Good afternoon everyone. Its an overcast, rainy Sunday here, but that didn't stop us from taking a family hike this morning. Thankfully it was more of a steady drizzle for most of the time.

My next new beer, again, comes courtesy of @larryi86. Tired Hands - Prayer Group which is an oak fermented lagerbier.
Pours a cloudy, semi-opaque matte yellow color. Nice thick white head slowly dissipates until just a one finger hill of foam remains on top of the beer. Aroma is interesting - its got some slight yeasty, almost funky, notes with notes of grain, wheat, and fresh bread. There is a distinct fruitiness to this one that presents as lemon with a white grape - almost white wine quality to it. Grassy hop note on the finish.

Taste is completely unexpected - that slight funk I detected on the nose suddenly takes center stage in the flavor. There is a slight funkiness with a strong oak character to the beer. Strong prominent hops give off a lemon-y, white grape/wine flavor. Its kind of acidic with a mild but noticeable tartness. Really not sure what to do with the flavor profile this beer - its good, but really unique. Feel is thick, chewy, with really bright, prickly carbonation. Semi-dry on the finish with some prominent bitterness.

Overall a really unique, but enjoyable, lager from Tired Hands.

Victory Merry Monkey - while the Monkey series is overall a hit with me, I absolutely hate Twisted Monkey (which is odd considering I do enjoy mango) so I was a little leery going into this one and in turn only got a single; but I am happy to report that this one is a hit, especially as it warms. Pours a crystal clear amber and smells like Golden Monkey but oddly maybe even a little spicier. The taste is the classic GM as the base but the cinnamon and nutmeg are definitely there too and the orange peel and cranberry are just barely there but play a nice background note. Dangerously drinkable for 10% and I am definitely in for a sixer of this, would be an awesome cold night sipper. And it does not end sweetly and on the more drier side which is very nice.

As the weather gets cooler and the holidays approach this will be a hit with many I think, and the price is very reasonable too; will age well also.

I really enjoy that beer. Glad you did too! I'd like to see your review if they hadn't labeled it a pilsner.

Having Maine Beer Co. in Texas is one of the best beer related events of 2020 for me.
This is another fine beer from MBC and at only 5.6% they get extra marks.
    4.08
    4.5/4/4/4/4.25
    16.9oz bottled 9/8/20. Opened 10/18/20.
    LOOK
Huge 3-finger tan head with rock solid retention...doesn't budge.
Dark brown/black with red-brown edges. Thick, foamy lacing.
    SMELL
Earthy malt and mild roast coffee.
Woodsy and hoppy, in addition there's a minerality up front in the aroma.
    TASTE
Coffee and bitter chocolate. Dark brown sugar/burnt sugar.
    FEEL
Medium body with medium-high carbonation. I expected a bigger, thicker "Stout" body and mouthfeel but it all works.
Bitterness 3 ways in the lengthy off-dry finish - roasted malt, coffee grinds, and hops.
Drinkability is high and packed with flavor at only 5.6% abv.
    OVERALL
    Very Good to Outstanding.

Bottle Logic 2020 Hypermash Hydra, BA stout compliments of NBW BIF 12 and the generous @2beerdogs
Pours a pitch black with nice mahogany ring at the edges, little head disappears immediately well expected for 13ABV. Aroma is killer sweetness, with taste following, cinnamon, nutmeg, coconut, chocolate, nuts all blending in harmony to create a deeply complex stout. Probably the most viscous creamy thick mouthfeel truly world class. If you have never participated in this BIF, do it! Thanks Derek

This weekend's newest new beer is Mörë Ümläut from Stellwagen.

16oz can served in a big snifter. Dated 09-15-20. Bought it on Tavour.

Pours very clear, light golden with a medium head. Smell is bright lager funk, lots of grass, a little light grain.

Taste is grainy, grassy, and crisp. Lager funk is there as an accent.

Mouthfeel is very light, very dry, very crisp. Really nice pilsner.

Not going to lie: I was far more invested in your introduction than in anything you had to say about the beer. I understand (trust me, I do), and feel for you; stay strong, and keep your head up. I'll lift my next glass in cheers for you.

I should mention that he's also verbally/emotionally abusive and she is potentially looking for divorce... so it's not just that she's "unhappy." He's, by all accounts, not a good person. But... yeah, it just seems like something that isn't meant to be; which doesn't change my feelings about her, nor does it change the fact that she took the initiative to spend time with me last week (which I bet she regrets due to how it made her feel, if my perception of the situation is right), but I will be giving her the space to figure out how she feels. I'll have to find a way to get past this despite working alongside her every day. I appreciate your candor, for sure. Cheers.

Second and final new beer of the day. Fluctuation is a DIPA from Equilibrium which seems to heavily feature Citra hops. Canned 10/6/20.

The pour is a mostly-murky orange looking liquid with a stable, thick, and foamy head of bone-white foam measuring almost three fingers upon initial pour. Nice lace as it dissipates along with great legs as well. Solid surface haze... a great looking NEIPA!

The nose is dank and aromatic with strong peach rings and tangerine melding with a touch of leafy green bitterness, pineapple, tea-like notes, and some mango/papaya tropical elements coming out as well. Seems very soft, smooth, and supple... happy to have this one in my glass. Let's see how it tastes!

Lightly catty and dank with some light green onion, lingering tangelo and peach flavors, and a bit of a green leafiness. Ripe, juicy mango and lychee along with soft passion fruit and papaya aspects coming across as it warms a bit. Super plush on the tongue with a great feel for the 8.1% ABV. One of the softest and most approachable NEIPAs I've had recently, all while retaining a consistent and delicious hop flavor. I had Ampere with friends yesterday (their TIPA) and really enjoyed it, but this is probably my favorite EQ beer so far. Would drink and savor again!

The appearance would have been pretty much irredeemable, but the Overall would have been a touch higher.

Time to get some last fests in.

Poured from the bottle into a Libbey style pilsner glass.

Bright brass gold color, with exceptional clarity practically crystal clear and fine pinhead sized bubbles of carbonation. Creamy bright white head that's about two fingers and settles to a good solid puck and bowled collar. Real nice looking brew.

Real mineral sensing aroma on this festbier. Rocky sensing and mineral like water notes dominate over very subtle herbal hops and slight toffee like malts. Quite clean, almost too clean ironically, as the minerality seems a bit overbearing.

Palate brings a bit more to the table. Soft bodied with nice light toffee malts and even some milky tasting caramel flavors in the mid palate. Light herbs in the finish with a very good mineral carbonation that’s surprisingly not overbearing as the nose seems to hint towards. Rocky aftertaste but not dominant, with little touches making the toffee come out even more crisp and refreshing.

In the end a solid simple festbier to be had.

    look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4 | 3.96/5

    Cheers!
