With that amount of ownership in the Wilpon family I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the terms of the sale of the Mets included divesting the brewery. Didn’t follow that transaction closely but depending on how well the brewery did during times of old I wouldn’t be surprised to see something else in there when operations return. Especially if one of the many hyped PE-backed breweries has ties to the new owner via said PE backers.

The stairs to the Willet's Point stop on the 7 train was about 1500 feet from the front door, just across the parking lot.

The location is 5 minutes from LGA, and 1/2 a mile from downtown Flushing.

The public transit options were plentiful and you can't ask for a more centralized location.

Thanks for the link, @zid. Very informative, or as informative as it can get...but NDAs.

Ahhhh I dunno - I might be able to suggest some places that are just a little bit more central

Wait for real? And you mean central as far as NYC goes or central for Mets fans who live in Flushing just off the 7, and travel regularly for work via LGA?

I went a few times and enjoyed it. It was also nice to be able to get actual craft at a baseball game instead of whatever AB was trying to pass off.

It was hard to justify going there because of the location. I’ve heard Citi Field called a lot of things, but centrally located isn’t one of them.

It was a nice space, food was pretty good, and had some good beer options, regardless of whether it was Mikkeller’s or not.

I guess the bigger question is - what is Mikkeller if not a brewery? Licensing names and cartoons?

Forget about the whole public sibling feud thing for a sec to look at the bigger picture... one takeaway from this is that when one brewer needs to close shop due to the pandemic, another brewer thinks that kicking sand in their face will help win over the hearts and minds of others. Ah, there's that famous craft beer industry camaraderie everybody talks about in action... and at its greatest time of need too. So uplifting.

Granted, for what I’ve heard about Jeppe it’s pretty on brand.

I thought it was a pretty cool place, but I wasn’t going to drag my kid there before a Mets game when we could be running the bases of Shea Stadium or wandering around the ballpark. Now that the Wilpons are on their way out, let’s scrub the place of anything to do with them.

As per it being near Flushing, you're basically saying, "The end of the 7 is near the end of the 7." but that is actually really good call. Flushing food trip followed by a Mikkeller NYC trip would have been a pretty good trip (in theory). Maybe I'm missing something, but it's kind of all that was out there as per beer destinations. Maybe you've got the LIC at the other (Queens) end of the 7?

Agree to disagree as per the convenience of stopping at a bar going to or coming from an airport, particularly LGA while it was under construction.

I'd ask where @pinyin went but he's probably halfway to demonstrating just how centrally located Citi Field is.

I mean, I don't think Jeppe, who is a well-known shitheel, is in any way representative of the craft beer community as a whole.

Is the whole “feud” thing between the brothers even a real thing or is it just a bunch of bullshit to drum up chatter?

This has always been my take. It's always struck me as being too cheesy/staged to be real.

I didn't mean to suggest that, but I can see how my post could look that way. He's just a (mainly) embraced part of it, but that's enough.
Too cheesy to be real but nonetheless real sums up a ton of the craft beer scene.

I really have very little evidence to support any real view of exactly what the craft beer community/culture is truly like - I go to / order from only a few breweries with any regularity, go to basically one store (thanks to your rec!) and follow a handful of bars/breweries on instagram. And otherwise am reliant on what I read on here. But from everything I've seen anecdotally, it would seem to me like he's a bit of an outlier. And even then I'm not sure what's real and what's his online persona. I actually only follow him because my bro-in-law (who already followed him) mentioned that beer aside, he lives in the same hamlet in Northern Westcheser that we moved to, plus - like me - he is a keen runner.
