These days I welcome any new release that's not an IPA, and this little number is a welcome respite. Part of their One Hitter series, this 8.2 ABV farmhouse saison sour is a good deal at 12 bucks a four pack. I'm hoping to see more beers like this released by Lagunitas and other breweries if they dare. Life is not all about IPAs people.
I love Lagunitas sours. I'm not a sour fan, but they seem to always hit it just right for my tastes...Cherry Jane and Dark Swan are 2 of my favorite beers. i'm really hoping these make it my way
Salt lake city...the one hitters/woodshop never release here but I can usually get them in Wyoming a month or 2 after they release. I went up last weekend and found Born Yesterday so bgg I'm hoping another week or 2
$12 four pack seems pricy for them. Dark Swan and Cherry Jane were $13 per six pack. Not to be a wet blanket, though. I do love Lagunitas. For example, Born Yesterday is one of my favorite hoppy beers of all time.
I believe those first 2 aren't as complex (costly to produce) as Sonomica. Dark Swan is a sour ale (kettle soured probably) fermented with the addition of grapes. Cherry Jane is a sour ale (kettle soured probably) fermented with cherries and the addition of brett. Sonomica was actually aged in red wine barrels and had brett added to it. I grabbed it when I saw it but haven't popped a bottle yet, on my list of todos tonite. Also Born Yesterday might as well be born last month for Houston as it still hasn't made it here.
Well, that's only been the case this year and I'm sure (hoping?) it's due to COVID-19. I've gotten the beer every year the last 5 years, and they've been on shelves day after borning date 2016 - 2019. (Wait, was BY in bottles in '16 or did I only have it on tap?)
maybe it’s just my local distribution but I’ve noticed that the born on date is becoming farther and farther away from when I am able to buy it. In 2016 I remember getting it two days out. Hopefully the delay is just due to Covid. Cheers.
