I was hoping I was wrong. I recalled last years as vanilla and some chocolate and really liked it. So that means great things for this year!

I opened Maple and Cafe tonight, with Maple up first. Really nice balance of the maple, I'm pretty impressed because sometimes maple just doesn't work for me (and I was skeptical cause I didn't care for the Maple Deth that was on tap at one of the releases last year). Easy to drink, but I think that's cause I actually found it to be on the thin side. That can be good for some, maybe not so good for others - I would prefer a little more body on it myself.

Cafe was very similar in the body and mouthfeel being a bit thin. The coffee is crazy on this though, especially in the nose. A bit stronger than I would even like, but I'm not a coffee drinker so my preference is a bit more muted for that profile. This one feels a little more thin actually and a tad ordinary. Not bad at all, though.

Now take one for the team and open a Deth's Tar for the full spectrum. I kid, I kid. Nice review comments.

Which ended up being which in terms of flavors?

I had a maple last night and thought it was a very well done, if unremarkable, BA maple stout. It didn't knock my socks off but was a delightful sipper.

I thought I replied back to this. But the 19 was the dark fruit and the 20 was the more vanilla/marshmallow/oakey one.

No cuvee? I've landed on a 1:2 ratio of Cafe to Maple for a nice breakfast-y stout.

Also, Rev's curbside pickup runs like a well-oiled machine. I proxied nearly a grand worth of product and I was in and out of their in 5 minutes. Don't forget to add a tip for the Rev crew when you order your Straight Jacket in a few weeks!

While not explicitly announced, they have stated on social media that retail outlets will have Deth's Tar and Cafe Deth this upcoming week, the week after the brewery release. This has held true for all Deep Wood releases the past few years.

And, to refresh everyone's memory on brewery release dates:
-11/20: Straight Jacket, Honey Jacket, Deth By Cherries
-12/11: Ryeway to Heaven, Double Barrel VSOD, Mineshaft Gap
-1/22: Apple Brandy Ryeway, TBA Collaboration

*Deth's Tar, Café Deth, Straight Jacket, and Ryeway to Heaven will get wide distribution.
**Deth by Cherries and Mineshaft Gap will see limited distribution (in the past that meant ~1-3 cases at most Binny's and 1-2 cases at others)
***Brewery only releases are Maple Deth, Honey Jacket, Double Barrel V.S.O.D, and Apple Brandy Ryeway.

Made the mistake of having Maple Deth after Deth's Tar. Not that Maple Deth is a substandard beer. Far from it. It's a very good beer and a nice change of pace from fruit and coffee variants. Appreciated the addition of maple without also making the beer sickly sweet. It's just Deth's Tar is *that* good imo. I picked up 2 Deth's Tar and will certainly be looking for at least 1 more once it hits stores. And kudos to Rev for another smooth curbside release.

Damn! I used to think that CBS was one of the best beers I'd ever had but Maple Deth knocked it out of the park! FWIW, I'm a sucker for anything maple. It was sweet but not overly so. Incredibly good and I'm seriously considering having a second. Totally kicking myself for not maxing out this release. Even though I know I'll be able to pick up DT and Cafe at Binny's, I really wish I could open one right now.

So I started the day with Deth, then tried Maple, finished with Cafe. I’m always a homer for Cafe, but regular may be the star of the show this year. Maple is light years ahead of the initial draft batch, but my least favorite of the three. I’m really looking forward to purchasing packs of Deth’s Tar for months on end.

    Also, I’m drunk.

Had all three today while we home brewed outside at a friend's house. All are phenomenal, as expected. One of the best BA maple beers I've had. Very subtle maple. Not overpowering, and sickly sweet like most maple beers. Well done Rev. The other two... I don't really need to talk about. They are who we thought they were.
