Just picked up my curbside order, but decided to clear out a couple of other stouts. Sipping on a Supermassive now after a '19 DT and just had a (buzzed) thought: I'm completely spoiled by Rev. Awesome barrel program that offers up one-off variants, strong distribution volume, and quality for days. The refinement on their BA beers is next level, just steady and delivers every time for me.

I even thought DDH Cashmere Hero was excellent. Totally spoiled.

    Cheers, all!

Day after thoughts: don’t try drinking all three Deth’s in one evening. Makes for a not-so-fun morning.

It has Deth in the name. Would you drink 3 cans of a beer called Rat Poison and not expect any side effects the next day?

    Is it barrel aged?

I’ll also add that while it’s a touch boozy, Red Skull is excellent this year as usual.

I had Maple Deth on a clean palate tonight.

Initial thoughts: incredible balanced and enjoyable...but perhaps a bit too mild and a bit too thin. I'm on record as thinking too much maple is basically a "deth" sentence for a stout; this avoids that, but could have a bit more of a maple presence. However, if "maple" wasn't in the name, I'm not sure I'd have this gripe, and would just be pleased with the overall balance.

A more pressing issue for me is that this was a bit thin in the mouthfeel; it's not Central Waters level, certainly, but is seemed a bit insubstantial. This is a nice 3rd or 4th beer of the evening, and not a showcase beer like the best of the Deep Woods series can be.

I really like this beer; just being honest that in my opinion it's not on the level of, say, Thundertaker (to use a recent example).

TL;DR: way above average, totally worth buying but not a top-tier Deep Woods beer according to an idiot.

If you have some mixed berry ryeway left and you cuvée it with supermassive...enjoy!

Cafe is solid as always, but Maple.. damn... spot-on perfect.

Sipping a maple as we speak and I must say this is great. A touch thin like others have mentioned but not overly so to detract from the overall experience. I like that the maple is there but it’s not crazy in your face sweet like many other maple stouts. Rev never seems to let me down

I don’t get this. Do you guys want your beer to drink like pure maple syrup? It’s beer. I thought it felt exactly right for a maple BA beer.

Imperial stouts aren't generally thin. We're not comparing the beer to maple syrups; we're comparing it to barrel aged imperial stouts.

I think this is thin, compared to other barrel aged imperial stouts.

@bmr29 what he said. Not looking for syrup thickness, but it could have a bit more “chew”

Noticeable difference between the maple deth and reg/cafe deth

Sorry to interject with an unpopular opinion, but maple falls well short of the standard Rev has risen to recently.

watery thin, lacks any depth or richness, nary a hint of barrel to speak of. I will say the maple is subdued, which is much better than being too heavy handed, but the flavor doesn’t integrate well as it just appears in the background on the finish.

if you slapped a different label on it, people would be saying it’s a decent effort for the style and nothing more.

My personal view is that Maple Deth is my favorite Rev stout in a long time. The maple is so well balanced with the stout that every sip was perfect - fresh out of the fridge through warming up. I didn't have an issue with the mouthfeel at all - thought it was perfectly consistent with normal Deth standards. It reminded me of 2013 CBS (which was outstanding and way better than the larger batches Founders put out in recently years).

Sad I only grabbed 1 four pack.

I thought more of all three new ones were hitting the webstore today for curbside pickup but so far nothing listed there.
