[IMG] Let’s put out some serious pages with this extra hour today. This one with Cascade, Mosaic, and Strata is awesome. Cheers all.

Starting today with a much lighter one than yesterday’s Darkness kickoff.

Good Morning Beer Advocates and I wish you a pleasant Dia de los Muertos, to all who celebrate and or those who do not but think of their lost loved ones over the next two days.

Starting early, sunlight peaking through to start the day which is nice now, but will not be nice later today when the sun sets too early. Leave the damn clocks alone already.

This may technically be a "new" beer to me, but I had the small batch variant last year at the brewery which lead to this formal Deep Woods release this year, with a slightly different composition and ABV, Maple Deth so I'm leaving my OG rating stand and only post in this thread.

Like the non flash picture better

Comparing this to last year's version, aroma and taste are consistent, maple blends / complements the bourbon and base oatmeal stout very well. The primary difference is the mouthfeel body, more thin than last year and how the base stout usually runs (haven't cracked my first Deth Tar or Cafe Deth yet), and the carbonation is lively and persistent, almost like pop rocks. Surprising in this style of beer. Would keep the same ratings as last year (4.25, 3.5, 4.25, 4.25, 4.25) except I would lower mouthfeel to 3.75 from 4.25. Overall still a very good stout, though I expect to like the cheaper Deth Tar and Cafe Deth better.

Sadly, curbside pick up encouraged people to buy full allotments, so the entire release is gone or near gone already, after typically being available after the release for some time. Will drink the other two to determine whether I need to track more Tar and or Cafe down (bought a four pack of each).

Overall, glad I purchased, but with the scarcity would likely have sacrificed this one for more of the other two.

I will likely return later today with another Lambic for the online tasting. If you are unfamiliar with the style, or interested in learning more, I encourage you to review the thread for some great offerings which have been sampled and reviewed to date.

Also, love your post @beertunes yesterday regarding Robbie Robertson. I always contend Marty Scorsese was genius for letting him babble off stage during The Last Waltz, but turning off his microphone during the concert.

    #TeamLevonHelm

Doesn't get much better than seeing The Band sans Robbie open for the Grateful Dead, though unfortunately their final show ever in Soldier Field. My brother Andy gave out a miracle before the show, one of many incredible memories from that evening.

    Good morning BA

This beer is raised to those who have had the wonderful experience of working an overnight shift on the "fall back" and getting to see the clock go from 1:59 to 1:00 am. Bonus points if you're salary and don't get paid for the extra hour, double bonus points if it wasn't even your shift to work...

Beer #2. My fondness for esb’s has grown throughout this tumultuous year. I find it hard to finish crowlers of ipa these days, but crowlers of esb? Nbd.

I’m all about the different styles this year too. This time last year I was only drinking ipa, stout, and sour. This year I’m drinking everything. Besides pickle beers...just can’t stomach them.

@DoctorZombies was kind enough to drop off a crowler of Devil's Backbone Danzig, and that seems like a fine choice this late morning.

Almost straight from the fridge, it's going to take a while for this to settle in and get to a review. Cheers!

A black lager I assume? At least from the name, and your chosen serving temp.

I'm letting it warm as I review; I couldn't wait any longer. :grinning:

DB describes it as a blend of an English Porter and a German Black Lager, and labeled the result a Baltic Porter. Two sips in, and it absolutely drinks more like the blended styles than a true Baltic Porter - and a delicious blend, at that!
