Pick-up in one week. 11-9. Meeting up with 2 other in IN to trade, talk, drink. Bringing 2017 FVM and 2018 Handjee. Will probably drink a 2014 regular adn a 2020 Regular as well. Can't wait.

But you are right, still pretty sad. DLD went from a Saturday with 12,000 of my closest friends to a Monday with 2 of my closest friends.

I do hope everyone can still enjoy these.

I'm 40 minutes away and haven't tried a Dark Lord. I do like KBS and BCBS and I'm just wondering if it's worth $170 for 5 beers. $34/beer is pretty pricey.

If you're just curious about what Dark Lord regular tastes like, you can basically trade $4$ for it with a wide range of beers, many accessible to you in all likelihood. Dark Lord regular is not a challenging beer to acquire.

If you want to gamble on a variant and have 4 regular Dark Lords to hang on to for future drinking, trading, etc, then you can probably justify purchasing an allotment.

That's like saying what is the value of knowing not to put your hand in a fire? It would seem to be worthless information for people who already know it, but for someone who doesn't who burns their hand off, that info would have been priceless. Similarly, if you've had DL, no it isn't worth that much, but if you haven't, then you need to and it will be worth more to you for your first time. I say all this malarky and somehow I pulled the trigger on 2 packages for like the 10th year in a row.

You may find you like getting away from the chaos of 12,000 people and enjoy sharing a nice, intimate Handjee with your two friends.

Either they sold out, or they removed them from the store now.

I think they put the tail between their legs and pulled it to make it feel special for everyone who ordered. They will of course re-appear at some point.

No doubt that they are hoarding for the next vintage sale.

Over/Under on a special FFF Distilling release for DLD? Will they have Dark Matter BA Coffee bottles for sale on the FFF website?

I was just thinking that they would have to have some other special release starting Thursday. Yours is a pretty good theory. Perhaps hot sauce too?

I went to dark matter and asked about the coffee the girl at the counter said they didn't do anything but she also didn't sound 100% sure.

Is everyone else's cellar expanding due to the pandemic? Next in person DLD bottle share could be legendary.

I haven't set foot in a liquor store since March. My beer spending has increased, all thanks to proxy rule changes and friends around the country willing to send me beer. It's been dangerous.

I'm a geek among geeks and have this stuff graphed out so I can see in stark clarity (and so my spending doesn't get out of hand), so...

While my cellar has grown and my spending on cans and bottles has increased--both due to increased proxying opportunities and local releases--my overall spending on beer in general has decreased. Some months the decrease is drastic, while others it's only ever so slightly.

The reason I've found is that a lot of my beer spending was based on travel and on-site consumption. Even though it seemed like my to-go and trade expenses in the past were high, they were dwarved in comparison to beercations and draft purchases.

As an aside, the downward trend remains true for my spending overall, despite my best efforts (considering I've been fortunate enough to remain employed) to throw money at all my favorite businesses and causes, which really emphasizes just how so many places are getting hit so badly economically.

That's a good point, my onsite drinking has been virtually non-existent, if I factored that in I'm probably about even if not a little down for the year. I had a big expense in beer travel to NorCal for PtY in February (bucket list trip. Those were the days, remember doing stuff?), but no DLD this year or summer beerfests to spend money on. But I have bought A Lot of lambic.

No, and that's even scarier, because I don't think I'm buying any less beer than I did before.

Same here. I've burned through most of my cellar this year, and spend as much, if not more, than pre-pandemic. I definitely save on not going out though. But I'm drinking much more in general, and stout season is just beginning...
