Beer community: Boy, I still can't believe that during the 2018 Benthic release Half Acre didn't police their line or notice that people were freely swapping out Double Dose and Double Barrel when they were picking their bottles. There's no way that they could screw something up that badly again!

Half Acre this morning: Hold my beer! :grimacing::grimacing::grimacing:

Spoke to HA via DM on Instagram a little while ago, and explained my case. They seemed super embarrassed by the entire situation, and were very helpful/understanding. Told me to email them and they'll work with me to get the payments charged where they should be, and get the others all refunded. So that's what I did.

I kind of feel like the easiest thing to do would be refund every single charge and reopen the selling anew tomorrow. I just don't understand how you sort out all the variations of charges I have on my cards. Some charges included glassware. Some didn't. Some included a tip. Some didn't. I was trying all sorts of things to get my card accepted. Clearly it was working the entire time...

I'd hate to have everyone go through this whole process again, but I'm just wondering if it wouldn't be the most simple idea from a logistics standpoint.

Yes - it was a morbidly fascinating thing to watch unfold. I was out, then in...out, then in again.

They've already issued out a couple statements and such via social media.

It more looks like they're just going to handle each case individually, so it likely takes some time, but everything will end up going where it should. I was told to email them with the details of my situation and they would do everything they could to sort it all out.

Doing this all over again is silly. Many of those refunds, if they actually processed, will take days to get back into accounts.

Right so are they actually going to keep one of the charges as a purchase or are they just refunded everything to everyone. That wasn't clear.

Sucks for HA employees b/c I'm sure they probably lost out a lot in potential gratuity given the frustrating purchasing process.

It seems like the "initial charge" will be kept, and all others will be refunded, according to them. But you should email them with specifics maybe?

As of right now, I have one refund that has been issued to my debit card, and one charge still there(which is the actual charge that went through). Waiting on all the rest to hit my credit card. Then I'll be able to see exactly what happens and provide more info.

Check your cards, some of my charges are getting refunded. Seems like they’re going down the line so may take some for all the refunds to show.

this happened to Me during the recent Cruz Blanca sale. They also used tock. The additional charges remained “pending” with my bank and then fell off completely in a few days. You should be fine.

For those who used debit cards this probably
Hurts a bit more. Bummed I missed the beer but at that point I had to choose between 4 hours with Comcast and save money or $2700 in pending charges/emails and utter disappointment.

Presumably the only thing we'll ultimately get charged for is whatever we successfully bought, as reflected in our emails? And we can then ask for refunds for truffles or glasses but not for extra Benthic we ordered in order to meet their threshold for bonus purchases?

The biggest issue I'm having right now is that I wanted Benthic to be on a CC that I use every winter for the BA beer release purchases, which I then pay down to a zero balance over time the rest of the year... and now I'm out $200 in cash, as opposed to having a $200 balance on an empty credit card... It's throwing a wrench in my entire fall BA spending, Christmas shopping, Savings money transfers, money balancing act I do. And now we have other BA releases coming up that I would normally use that card... but can't, as it has a full damn balance right now. It all needs to drop off that card before BCBS emails go out on Friday. This could have a spiraling effect on my entire BA budget. Lol.

Can confirm, my extra charge has been refunded. This just leaves one more piece of remaining good news I need to hear today...
