Other Half (2020)

Can't wait for OH's version of salt bae's seasoning but with 'tose instead.

 

I drank a lot of Other Half last night and will continue to do so for a few days it seems

 

Did something important happen last night?

 

I had the Banana Pudding Crunch stout last night. It was one of the better OH stouts with 100 adjuncts in it. My GF that can’t stomach OH stouts (she has good taste) even enjoyed it.

Maybe my OH stout bar is just low from how horrendous the GC stouts were....

 

Drinking my last Hops Only tonight, steep drop off in hop character which I expect from lesser breweries. Pains me to join the chorus of discontent but my last four or five purchases at OH have either not met expectations or diminished in quality quicker than usual. Hopefully they're done opening new locations for a little while and focus on getting things back on track.

 

So the Adam Dunn of stouts?

 

I wonder, are their hop contracts an issue? They're expanding and also having to compete with more breweries for quality hops. At what point, brewing practices aside, do things break down?

 

Yeah, I miss being able to try it first and then decide. At the cost a lot of them I am just passing on because I don't want to spend $18+ on a single beer I might not even finish half of.

You can tell they're new to the DMV since Aslin has released a 18.4% ABV IPA a couple years ago (Pinkies Up).

I was not impressed with Phantasm in that experimental Citra earlier this year. I do like the ice cream cone mascot for Magic Dips- he looks like an anthropomorphized food I would like to have a beer with.
