My first from Drekker and it doesn’t disappoint - “King of the Thing”, NE DIPA:



Grapefruit lemon (Citra) some dank weedy notes. Bitter grapefruit rind Myers lemons firm malt base. Medium plus body smooth feel (oats/spelt). No astringency no alcohol bite. Long bitter grapefruit peel linger. I love! If only the NE style IPA beers I try were as enjoyable as this beer...I keep drinking’em b/c every once in a while I find a winner (for me)... Cheers!

I drank the DIPA from Tilted Barn a couple of hours ago while reading on the deck. Now drinking Allagash Triple while I prepare dinner for the fam!

holy cow, this is amazing, even more so since it's cold outside.

Pours pitch black. A thick pouring beer, 1 finger tan head. The head retention is good for such a beer. No lacing on the glass.
The nose is full of barrel notes. There's chocolate, caramel, toffee, coffee, all mixed together in the nose.
Taste - I'm in heaven here. So flavorful. The flavors on the nose work together to create an amazing flavor. There's a bit of sweetness mixed in. I'm also getting a hint of peppermint flavor, that I wasn't expecting.
Full bodied. Thick. Creamy. It isn't boozy at all, just a hint of it here.
This is one hell of a solid BA stout, and I recommend it.

The Loser

 

I love white rajah, but truth be told I haven't seen it on the shelf yet! Maybe I have to look harder. That along with Columbus and Head Hunter are my favorite Ohio IPAs from way back when. I still need to try some new ones that are around now with the newer breweries. Cheers

Its been perfect courtyard weather, and getting close to finishing this amazing trilogy of African fantasy novels by Ben Okri. Weltenburger Kloster Barock Dunkel, so damn good I got another six pack as soon as I could.
