Opened up one of my Space Jams for science and I’m pretty sure it’s turning for the worst. Way more carbonation than I remember fresh and it was pretty tart/sour. Doesn’t taste bad or undrinkable yet, but certainly not what it was after the release initially. I don’t see this getting better with time, unfortunately. Shame because this was a real treat before.

Opened up a bottle of Interdiction Fields last night and thought it was excellent, I'm glad it got some more time to sit in barrels compared to the preview version from March. To me, they really nailed the description of a Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk cookie. Easy max for my last go-around as a Saving Throw member :slight_frown:

I haven't opened up 1 bottle. Still have 4 in my fridge. Not good.

It was so good on draft!

Just posting to confirm some of the reports here...the first bottle I had at the beginning of last September was pretty good with a raspberry dominant, hint of coconut finish. This second bottle, though, had an almost sour/tart off-flavor appear on the backend. Maybe infected?

Ugh. I'll pop up my first one this week.
Have you emailed Bottle Logic? They are usually awesome if there's problems.

Yeah I opened my bottle of space jam this weekend, had a overly tartness taste. Alot of carbonation and no coconut. First time for me I had a bad experience from BL.

Opened a Space Jam last night after reading the recent posts. Happy to report it was great.

Bummed for the others, though. I've had that issue with Number Crunch from last year.

How would you compare Interdiction Field with Bastion of Reason?

Opened a Space Jam that I got secondary here in Chicago and then cold stored. It was good with no signs of infection. Certainly much more raspberry than coconut but I was happy the beer had no issues.

That Bastion was amazing and is as good as any pb stout out there. What’s interesting is that bastion doesn’t have peanut butter just peanuts and cocoa nibs.

Needed to come back and correct this part of my post. Not sure how I forgot this (maybe the beer drinking and purchases all blend together in COVID times?), but I've opened 4 of my 6 Space Jam bottles, not 3 of 4. I found a fifth one lurking in my beer fridge and also recalled that I opened a second bottle within 2-ish weeks of release.

So to clarify, my first 2 Space Jams were exactly as expected, delicious. My 3rd and 4th Space Jams were off. The final two are sitting in my fridge awaiting their fate.

Interdiction Fields to me was richer/thiccer, I got the vibe I was really drinking chunks of chocolate in a PB cookie.I personally liked the peanut flavor a little more in IdF rather than BoR

I like how BL has pours before the sale. However this is an easy pass for me based off what I'm seeing. If they didn't pour this ahead of time just on the description and the j wake collab would have easily bought 3 bottles. Here's to hoping they continue making double triple mash stouts and figuring out how to make BA beers as consistently good as Hypermash or Ghost Proton.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think I would give the edge to BoR flavorwise. Not knocking one or the other though because both are great. IdF definitely felt thicker though.

That being said... Wonder if we'll ever see a batch two of Byzantine Vision.

Whatever the new system is for Bottle Logics Saving Throw's is, I'm all for it. Definitely a must membership if you're near by.

This definitely deserves another shot, having a non-infected pour on tap was just delicious!

J Wakefield is involved so you probably were drinking chunks of sweet dessert.

I loved the innovation behind Byzantine Vision. Baklava is one of my fave desserts, and I’m not sure I’ve seen any other brewer attempt something like this. The nose on my bottle was spot on. Sadly, once I took a sip, I knew it wasn’t what it was intended to be (clearly infected).

Would love to see BL give this one another go too. Maybe go the stout route vs the porter route this time while we are at it.

If they pulled it off, I think it’d be incredible.

I hope future sales gives us a little heads up if toast and eventbrite are pulling from same pool of bottles.

Thankfully I don't think STF is gonna sell out locally in one day but I'm afraid of what a big hype beer will do.

Maybe announce on Monday, toast starting Thursday, and eventbrite on Sunday?

As I read it, the plan is to have all of the bottles (not including the 10%-ish for distro) available on Toast first and then whatever hasn’t sold then goes over to EB a few days later. In other words, a beer could sell out on a Toast to those who can stop in and pick it up the first few days, with no bottles going to EB for those who can’t. I could be wrong though.

As it looks like EB takes anywhere from 2.5% to 6% per bottle/transaction from BL (in addition to the fees they charge us), bypassing EB could theoretically save BL tens of thousands of dollars a year (and save us hundreds or more per year). I’m all for it.
