Still in the backyard, hanging feeders and chimes, and moving potted plants around...keeping it light with a session IPA - “Wolf Pup Session IPA”, Golden Road Brewing, Los Angeles, CA:

Light and watery. Good lemon and grapefruit nose and bitter taste. However, there’s an odd metallic linger that kinda ruins the whole beer enjoyment thing...one and done.

Moving on to my second beer of the day, which is Ola Dubh Special Reserve 12 from Harviestoun Brewery in Scotland. 8% ABV and for me distinguished by smokiness and burnt flavours. I had this beer years ago, but if memory serves, I’m enjoying it more now. My palate has changed. Cheers.

Jackie O’s Who Cooks For You or the owl beer as we call it. Not sure if the barred owl is outside the midwest, but they named this great IPA after the barred owl call.

The looks are the same while the smell is a tad faded (but not docking points for that) and the mouthfeel as seems the same. The big difference is the taste. It still has the esters and tropical fruit aspects. I don't get any phenol presence and certainly no taste of burnt rubber.

Perhaps my taster was off or I the beer was too raw. In any case, it's a decent beer.
    ----------------------
Fairly hazy, muted orange and yellow body; thick and frothy white head, sticky. Some fresh citrus with stale citrus pith smells; herbal. Semi-fresh orange and pineapple flavors; powdered sugar and biscuit; strong bitterness with a phenolic edge to it. Heavy body; mildly velvety; some alcohol burn; semi-dry mouthfeel.

An okay beer that would be better if it didn't have a slight burnt rubber quality to the flavor.

Found some SN Stout from late August. Still great. I also grabbed some Anchor porter To re visit.

No photo right now but it’s drinking nice on this cold rainy long work day.

    Enjoy

Wulver is one my favorites. Drank many pints (scarily, probably gallons) of it at the Thirsty Dog brewery before they bottled it. The sign just said wee heavy for years until they decided to bottle. RIS fans should definitely try Siberian Night, barrel aged or regular. Underrated in my book

    2016 release - consumed on November 12, 2020.
Pours a very dark brown. 1 finger off white head. For the ABV, the retention is good. The head dissipates to a ring around the edge of the glass. There's some decent carbonation rising in the glass that makes the ring swirl about. No lacing on the glass.
The nose is a sweet toffee aroma from the barrels. I do get a chocolate and vanilla undertone.
Taste - Like the nose tons of toffee. The chocolate is really muted. I don't know if it would be stronger fresh. The chocolate and vanilla are on the backside.
Very boozy, which isn't surprising. Even aged 4 years, very "hot". It isn't as thick as I was expecting.
This is an interesting beer. good, but you know it's very strong, and must be slowly enjoyed.

Tui and I have retreated into the air conditioning...drinking something new, courtesy of @mschrei - “Zentangle” a hazy DIPA by Phase Three Brewing, Lake Zurich, IL:

I like! Grapefruit, lemon, semi sweet orange juice, with peach and mango. No bitterness. A touch of earthy dank on the nose with the citrus notes. Medium body, no astringency. Very enjoyable and drinkable - thanks Matt!
