Rest assured this post should make anyone who passed on the Fobab sixers feel completely satisfied with their decision lol.

So I arrived 9:02pm, booked it in there, everything was still set up with piles of beer totes everywhere. Unexpectedly, the girl blurts in my face “you needed to be here by 9, but I guess I’ll let you have yours…” Ok, cool lol. I only paid the price of a Fobab ticket ($64), to drive 100+ miles roundtrip for a 6-pack of beer, but yea, sorry for being such a nuisance. A little annoying, but brushed it off, and was completely courteous. The other person helping gasped with what seemed to be an embarrassed laugh, maybe they felt bad, who knows.

Thought it was interesting that once I checked in, the more friendly person went to get my beer tote, but didn’t take one from the nearest pile, and instead went to one of the piles farthest away, hesitated, then finally picked one. It was just a little strange that they were being so deliberate in choosing the tote. If it was all supposed to be random, why not just grab one from the closest pile and send me on my way? Kind of a weird experience.

I was pretty excited to see a 3F’s bottle cap & noticed a wax-dipped bomber, but it was dark, so decided to wait until I got home to check…

Would have thought they’d give a better mix of categories. Probably would only have tried two of these beers at actual fest. Majorly disappointed to say the least. Clearly, they retrieved my tote from the schwag pile lol.

Was hopeful I’d get a couple stouts as those usually seem most abundant at Fobab. Happy with the Lil Beaver stout & 3F’s sour, but did see the 3F’s sour is available at the brewpub for $4.75/btl. Sweet. Just not sure this sixer was worth the hefty price-tag. Feels like all of my beers could’ve been acquired at my local Binny’s for less money & less driving. It’s like when you sign up for a beer delivery subscription and realize you might as well be putting the money towards beers you actually want lol. Silver lining is I’ll be trying 4 beers I prob would not have experienced otherwise…

 

Reading what everyone else got, I think I did a little better than average:

MobCraft - Padishah imperial stout
Area Two - Pear Lambic
Crooked Stave - Peaches of Immortality fruited sour
Upstream - Aetherwalk barleywine
Cerebral - Trophy Hunt imperial stout
Bottle Logic - Gem Condition imperial stout

All large format bottles except for the MobCraft, which is a 12oz can.

 

Stouts seem interesting and Crooked Stave never seems to miss with their peach sours

 

Trophy Hunt is a nice pull. Love that beer, but I'm also a huge vanilla *****.

 

What’s everyone drinking for the Awards today? Thinking a nice potent 12 oz’er like Boss Jacket is in order
