Trillium is now shipping legally via UPS within Massachusetts. UPS is my chosen method of delivery when I do mail trades and I'm wondering if anyone has seen this in other states, or if anyone has any thoughts on if this might have an effect on UPS workers becoming more alert to the sloshing sound of liquid moving around inside a box. I just saw a post on Facebook from a UPS worker getting all excited because he's a fan of Trillium and it was obvious the box contained beer... Let's assume for discussion purposes we're shipping cans and it's near to impossible mask the sound despite the usual use of double boxing, padding and noise makers. Thanks guys.

From my experience and what others have shared, basically 99+ % of workers at usps, ups or fedex don't care what is being shipped, they just want to do their job. Hoping that'll stay the same.

Carriers don't care about sloshing. That's just a myth perpetuated by people who are itching to get rid of their pennies, can carriers, and stale pasta.

I can't imagine why it would have any effect. Wineries here in the West routinely use UPS (FedEx as well) to ship wine, so shipping alcohol "through the mail" isn't anything new. I think the boxes are required to have printed information on the outside regarding the contents, and there's typically the usual disclaimer about the effects of excessive alcohol consumption included as well. I would assume Trillium will do the same with any beer they ship in state (use boxes that proclaim alcohol is being shipped, etc.).

I would also assume that workers at UPS and FedEx are instructed to leave those boxes alone (or perhaps handle them with increased care), but to continue to be aware of any boxes shipped by private citizens that appear to be suspicious for alcohol inside. In the end, however, as mentioned above, that largely means they do nothing.

Yes, thanks, the box I saw had sever disclaimer including the ones you mention, and also one that said it must be signed for, and the signor must not be intoxicated...thought that one was interesting.

Signing for a box containing alcohol doesn't seem to be an issue during the pandemic. When I get shipments of a case of wine the tracking always states it needs a signature but they've been leaving them even when I'm not home. They've been putting Covid where the signature would typically be.

I worked at UPS, the drivers don’t give a shit whatsoever. Pack your box’s well, some of them like tossing boxes not joking. Some smoke vaporizers while driving. Too many boxes to even care about tbh. Unless it’s reeking like pot or something, idk. Basically no one gives a shit other than the desk employees (store front). Make the boxes noisy and you’ll be good.

    I hope this helps!

Generally agree with your comment, but having worked at fed ex for some time I would say that the best thing you could do is make your box as quiet as possible

Imo either make it noisy or silent. Silent, is a good idea. I can’t disagree with that.
