    well, 5 lbs of rib eye roast are in the grill (onion/garlic/rosemary/Montreal seasoning rub + kiss of smoke) so now all that remains to be done is kick back, watch the temperature, and have some Four Roses with my Expedition Stout. The stout is excellent alone, but when followed by a sip of the bourbon you can hear angels sing. [​IMG] [​IMG]

    I saw Roy play on a little old time theater stage, I think in Uniontown, PA, in the 1970s...simply jaw dropping amazing guitar work. I want to say Billy Price and the Rhythm Kings opened. Roy was fairly sober and killed Roy’s Blues, among others. Thanks for the tunes, and jogging old pleasant memories - Cheers!

    Got a LIF box from @Ozzylizard yesterday, and am cracking into a Jailbreak Funk Sway lime Berliner Weisse now. Would be a nice summer brew, but I'm enjoying it now.

    Never saw him live. Wish I would have. I always loved his playing from first album on. An old guitar playing buddy of mine (we did some real amateur jams back in the day) had a running joke about "Roy who?" Which naturally doesn't translate into anything funny unless it was between us two.

    In truth, I can't say I remember the gist of the joke. But I believe it was Roy's reputation among those "who know" guitar players vs. any particular players general popularity.

    I can't think of a single tune from him that ever charted, but his albums were certainly prized by those in the know...

    Sadly, I have come across them here like that too, and I’ve actually rolled the dice once or twice because I just wanted one.

    There’s only one place near me that gets it. I make it a point to let them know my appreciation every time I pick some up.
