Same here except I am tech illiterate and don't know what this app is or how to even install it. Thank goodness only a few breweries do this. Oldest 39 year old on the planet and I am ok with that!

I don't get the angst towards something that is making it easier to buy beer. Yes the P3 lottery ended 6 hours early but it's been great other than that so far. I was able to pick up Curvature very easily with two clicks and entered another lottery equally as easy. Literally no way to make everyone happy.

It's literally an iphone or android app. Just search for it on the app store or click here. It's very easy to use.

It doesn't have anything to do with how they conducted the lottery, it has to do with having to download a program to purchase something. If they had an option to just submit your info on a website like a normal lottery it's a totally different story. If it was also open to the public, it is a different story. It isn't open to the public, it is open to people who have downloaded and signed up for the app which makes it exclusionary. Being forced to download something to make a purchase we may as well still be forced to quarter British soldiers...

Not everybody has internet access either, so isn't that exclusionary as well?

Closed for COVID. Which (I assume) is also why OZNR use is taking off right now.

Don't get me wrong, having an app for everything can get out of control. But I don't know that there's a specific place you can draw a line and say what's acceptable for everyone. This is just a beer company trying to solve a tech problem by using someone else's product.

What in the actual fuck? I’m curious as to who is forcing you to download anything? It’s purely optional. The caveat is that if you want the beer, that’s the avenue you have to take. If it’s seriously that big of a deal to download the app then I guess you don’t want the beer bad enough.

I don’t like new apps as much as the next aging guy, and this app has perhaps the worst name ever. But Oznr is easy to use and it’s not like just one place uses it; so, I can have it as an access point for many beer related items. Seems ok to me. If I had to guess, this is the way beer will move, to this app or similar apps.

Maybe I've missed it but I've never seen anyone say buying beer on websites (e.g. square, toast) was difficult and a solution was needed.

I guarantee at some point when beer was first sold on websites, there were plenty of people that said that.

So the app was 5-8 years in development? Brewery website sales have been working fairly well this year for the most part is more the point (at least what I've seen anyway).

So I'm willing to download the app, but my phone isn't: "Your device isn't compatible with this version."

Well if I can't get the beers from them how the hell am I gonna flip 'em to get the money for a new phone??? MORE clearly hasn't considered the larger impact to the economy. PEOPLES LIVES AND LIVELIHOODS ARE AT STAKE!!!!!!1!!!

I’m just saying that this may be the new way of doing things, since we already do so many things via apps. I’m normally a grumpy old man, but am trying to be willing to embrace this.

I could be wrong and this info could be outdated but wasn’t one of the major issues with toast that the seller couldn’t impose a limit on how many of an item you buy? I think bottle limits have to be manually/retroactively enforced if someone breaks that rule. At least, I think that’s how Mikerphone explained it in the spring.

The one benefit I could see to OZNR, and the only one, is if they corner the market in releases, they can conceivably identify who is flipping and ban those people from the app. Perhaps a good use of BIG DATA.

How do you suppose they could tell who is selling secondary and who isn’t?
