Not familiar with Ronaldo but I’ve never had a DL I’d put in the top 20 of any category. I couldn’t even finish a taster of some well-regarded variants. Something in the base beer absolutely does not sit well with my palate (I’ll spare everyone the details).

Agreed. There's definitely a big difference in barrel availability with bourbon having to be in fresh barrels and apple brandy sometimes not even seeing one. Apple Brandy Jones Dog was one of my favorite beers in the past few years, but I haven't had frequent opportunity for others.

I actually think DBC is the best fruited BA stout I've ever had.

Back to HJ. As it has warmed from my non-heated garage temp to room temp, it seems to have gotten more barrel, but it's so damn sweet I'm having trouble just finishing the glass. It's definitely what I would consider a desert beer.

Im sure it will be terrible. Nothing to see. Move along.

(that will in all likelihood be the first Deep Woods series beer I buy 2 or 3 4-packs of - I am that excited for it.*

    *pending Rev limits.

Hoping SJ hits Binnys and others soon, guessing later this week. It’s of my favorites and I didn’t go into the city for this one

I’m sitting here this morning, petting my crowler of Form of the Destructor, whispering “soon.”

    is that.... weird?

Only weird if you have it sitting in a shrine.

SJ is really good. I poured my first can and spilled the entire glass before i could even take a sip (RIP beer and living room rug). Second can was delicious though. Maybe it was the edible but i was getting a savory almost umami character as the beer warmed?? I might be crazy, i don't know. I found it delicious

What in god’s name happened to this batch of Honey Jacket? It’s nearly undrinkable for me. It literally just tastes like alcoholic honey. I hardly get any SJ in here. Really hoping this is just a bad can, because this is nothing like I remember of the initial batch.

Just mix half a can of straight jacket in that b. Mission accomplished

I had it cold and said, damn...straight honey... minor SJ on the back. Let it warm to room temp and then it balanced better. Still would prob take straight SJ, but not necessarily upset with the honey variant being that I really like honey.

Oof. Had fears of this, so I skipped it. Honey is usually overkill in beer, at least to me.

Mine was never cold (my cellar temp is approx 60 degrees), so that can’t be it. And I like honey, but this can tasted like spoiled honey (not sure that’s actually a thing). It just wasn’t what I was expecting, as I loved the initial batch. Hoping it’s just this can, as it’s getting great reviews elsewhere.

For me, Honey jacket was cloyingly sweet last year, so i was cautiously optimistic that they would have dialed it down. Oh well

Hate to pile on but I’ve been nursing a glass of Honey Jacket for the last 4 1/2 hours. It is very sweet and had a distinct cola character when cold. I love the aroma, it is total honey but lacking in barrel character and a bit one-note.

Fun Fact: It is not a thing, honey is the one and only food in the world that never spoils.

The people complaining about too sweet Honey Jacket and retrained syrup in Maple Deth, need to combine them to create a balanced barley stout.
