From what I heard from a friend, I'm pretty sure these were not bottled in 2014.

Is online ordering only open when the brewery is open?

Online ordering is locked out if we are not open in the next 24 hours, which is Monday and Tuesday mornings.

I'm lazy so now would be a perfect time to start UPS deliveries - hint hint!

Jack’s Abby are recalling their Peanut Butter Cup Barrel Aged Framinghammer, per an email I received this morning. I haven’t bought any of the barrel aged variants yet, however the peanut butter one was on my list.

    To Our Dedicated Fans,

We screwed up! We have always been committed to the highest standards of quality in our beers. We have invested heavily into people and a lab to ensure that we maintain these standards. That said, a beer we recently released, Peanut Butter Cup Barrel-Aged Framinghammer, does not meet our standards.

Barrel Aged Beers are notoriously challenging to produce "clean." We take many steps to treat the beer and prevent contamination, but this one seems to have gotten past us. The pH is a bit low and is evidence that the beer may have been exposed to Lactobacillus or Pediococcus earlier in the process despite the fact that they are no longer presently alive in the beer. Lacto and Pedio (as we call them) are organisms that create sour flavor profiles, much beloved in our sour beers, but not appropriate for our Barrel Aged Framinghammers.

We want to be clear: the beer is safe to consume, and safe to store at room temperature. That said, it does not meet our quality standards flavor wise and we have made the decision to recall these bottles.

It appears the problem is tied to the peanut butter specifically. We tested all other 2020 variants again via sensory panel and pH testing and did not identify any issues. We will continue to test and monitor these beers to ensure quality.

There are not many bottles out there, but if you got one and are not happy with it please reach out to [email protected] and we'll resolve this with you very quickly.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to [email protected].

Thank you for all of your support. We will refocus our efforts to ensure something like this never happens again.

    Sincerely,
    Jack, Eric and Sam Hendler

Dammit. I was really hoping it would be dangerous to consume so I could’ve given it to my in-laws on Thanksgiving.

Opened a bottle a few weeks ago and immediately drain-poured. Really nasty infection. Glad to see them working to make it right!

Same here, I was wondering what the heck was going on with that beer. I appreciate their honesty!

First Red Tape of the year. Lovely. Just perfect for a cold autumnal evening.

    Yeah, tastes great this year.

We’re blessed with Dunkels in New England (which I’ve said before).

This, Notch’s mini keg that just came out, Georg from Schilling, Focal Point from Exhibit A, Brunhilda from Idle Hands...probably not even remembering all of them either.

How's the VSOF? I really want to try it but haven't had a chance to make it out that way.

I really enjoyed the bottle I had. Big, Burly and Bold, very barrel forward, but I didn't find it to be too hot. Definitely worth checking out just based on how long it was in the barrel, which initially, combined with the lack of info, made me think this would be a train wreck and would be solely for curiosity. Not the case, stands out beyond the novelty and I'm hoping to pick up another bottle or 2 before it sells out. If the guys @JacksAbbyBrewing are listening, hopefully there are some other extended aged barrels laying around, would love to see one blended with a less-aged BA framinghammer conditioned on a mountain of vanilla.

It’s getting to the point where any JA beer not named Post Shift, Hopponius or House Lager are not making it to my neck of the woods anymore. Bummer. No Trösten (VT) either.
