Is being released to the general public on Saturday, which seems odd given that (i) we're in the middle of a worsening pandemic, and (ii) they already have a club (El Cat) where they could release the beer without causing a mass gathering. From Facebook: Apple Brandy Barrel-aged Hunahpu's Imperial Stout is back! On Saturday, November 28th at 10 AM, we'll be offering a very, very limited amount of 500 mL bottles of one of our rarest and most delicious versions of the award-winning Hunahpu's Imperial Stout. We haven't released this barrel-aged treat since 2013 and we're thrilled to offer it this Thanksgiving season. We have produced fewer than 450 hand waxed bottles of Apple Brandy Barrel-aged Hunahpu's for an exclusive one-day release at the Spruce Street Tap Room in Tampa. Here are the details: -Each 500 mL bottle will be $25 plus tax -Bottle limits will apply -Doors to the Spruce Street Tap Room will open at 10 AM; draft beer, including pours of Apple Brandy Barrel-aged Hunahpu's Imperial Stout, and food will be available at noon -Masks will be required while waiting in line and while inside the Tap Room -Social distancing protocols will be followed, and each person or group in line must maintain a six foot distance from their neighbors -Please make use of the lot in front of our brewery and our oveflow lot across Spruce Street. Do not park in the residential area that abuts Spruce Street
Not going to lie, this irks me as an el catador member. I’ve been waiting for an AB Huna since I joined in round 7, but F me right?
I've been in since round one hoping for this. I've had it twice before and it's legit one of the best beers I've ever had. I'm sad and pissed at the same time.
Truly poor decision making by management on this. Slap in the face to long time El Cat members who have asked for this for years, and the potential for a PR nightmare in the weeks to come if it turns into a super spreader event given the news of the day.
How do these usually work? If the doors open at 10am are the bottles available then or not until Noon when they are doing draft pours?
The covid laden masses will begin to line up in the wee hours of the morning... drinking in line sharing stories and the virus. The doors will open at 10.. bottles will be handed out and no one will go back at noon for the draft... They will all be too busy trying to sell the bottles to make rent payments.
FWIW, at 7:45am there are about 25 people in line. Bottle limits haven’t been set yet and will depend on the number of people in line. So still enough time to get a good spot. No bottle shares currently, everyone is masked and socially distanced.
I was in and out in five minutes. From the looks of everything it went smooth. Approximately 100-125 people in line at 10am. I haven’t tried yet but hope to later today. Cheers!
Release was remarkably smooth. I was expecting a FL Cluster, but they had everyone well spaced out, policed the line, and were enforcing mask wearing. Everyone who showed up by 10 got bottles.
