That was one of the other "minor" things I was referencing, as well as flaked oats specifically being higher in manganese which allegedly increases or speeds up the process of oxidation according to some research Scott Janish references in his book

    -Peak Organic Winter Ipa
Both around $10 for a sixer of 12oz cans. Perfect price, perfect format.

Scott is a conscientious researcher and he does thoroughly reference stuff but all to often the results of study A contradict the information from reference B so...

    Cheers!

Two Juicy from Two Roads is pretty good for $12.99 per 16oz 4-pack and probably available fairly fresh in NY.
On the other side of the spectrum for OP in NY, any Single Cut NEIPA would probably require you to take out a mortgage.

I also dislike spending more than $16 on a four pack of NEIPA on a regular basis, so I have good suggestions for you. I also live in NY, so here are my suggestions for solid NEIPAs between $9 and $13 a pack.

    Southern Tier Lake Shore Fog
    New Belgum Juicy Haze
    Bell's Official
Sloop Juice Bomb and Super Soft...actually most of their offerings are reasonably priced
    Anything from Sixpoint
    Captain Lawrence Citra Dreams
    Victory Cloud Walker
    Big Ditch Hayburner (highly recommended)

If you lived in PA, New Trail would satisfy your needs. You can get a 4-pack for $12.75. I'd rather pay for the upper echelon shit, but I understand your point of view. I'm pretty sure you'd be satisfied. Peace...

Great list. I add any of Three Heads Brewing’s offerings for a NY brewery as well. Recently had Haha Nelson in a 4 pack of 16oz cans for $11.99. Well worth it. Especially because of...well, Nelson hops. And The Simpsons themed name and can. Strong Arm is really good too.

I understand it’s not easy, I’ve made them many times with varying results. I guess under last night’s inebriated veil I assumed OP wasn’t very picky at all about flavor and just looking for a “decent” flavor at an affordable price. Oxidation is definitely a piece of shit that happens all too often. But even if an IPA is just slightly oxidized, it doesn’t come off as unpleasurable to me. Multiple dry hops can be tough if you don’t purge or don’t have that equipment.

I guess in short, I’m saying your right. They do take great care from mash to bottle. But if OP isn’t super concerned about it being a “super great” beer, it could be something worthwhile to invest a little extra in for the long run.

Funny you should mention that because that's on my to-get next list. I've been literally planning on buying that sometime in the next few days for the same reasons.

My point was that I think commercial IPA's that have been sitting warm on shelves for a while taste better than most homebrew NEIPAs that are bottle conditioned without the proper equipment to prevent extreme oxidation. Even if the bottles arent bad right away, by the time you even get 1/4 through the case they're going to be terribly oxidized

I’m on the opposite end, I’d rather pay more for better beer that gives me more enjoyment. If I’m going cheap I’m going AAL. Id easily pay $25 for Resident Culture, Treehouse, whatever. You just spot them, not a steady diet.

The fact that “murk bombs” is a now desirable attribute that people seek out in beer gives me a headache.

this! I homebrew and while hazies are expensive I can brew 5 gallons @50 beers for like $70/$80 depending on the hops. I’ve had really good success brewing some fantastic hazies, so much that I no longer have a desire to drop top dollar for them.

Modern times makes excellent hazies and considering the average price I find them to be reasonably priced.

Zero Gravity Conehead (4 pack 16oz. cans) & Sloop Juice Bomb (6 pack 12oz. cans) are both available for under $10. Both also come in 12 packs of 12oz. cans for under $20.

I agree. I have been really happy with their Elara. I disregarded that one from a response to the original posted question because i thought it failed the cost criteria but i see on my recent receipt it is $12 for 4x16oz at Trader Joes and my can is just 30 days old.

Yep....I got over my phobia of $20+ 4 packs by comparing cost per ounce to other top shelf liquors and good wines.

There’s just no value in drinking beers that you don’t enjoy drinking, imo that’s just false value to settle because of price. What’s the cost of a 14 Oz pour in any reasonable craft beer bar? $6-7 ? So given thats the norm, might be more depending of what and where you live. I don’t think paying that same price per can is excessive, so 4 packs $25 or so shouldn’t scare anyone off. Plus I gain a bit because I don’t have to leave a tip, and I’m getting more beer for my money. I’m tired of paying good money for mediocre beer, it’s why I backtrack to AAL if I want to save a buck. I’ll pay for the best beers I can get my hands on that when I sip on make me smile.

Murk bomb is simply an ugly name and not in the least appetizing. Haze bro is just as stupid.
