Still rolling with my trend of drinking Sierra Nevada Celebration straight from my cellar. This time it's a fresh one, from 2020.

This beer is so fucking good. I don't really get what all the fuss is about with other IPAs. This may be the only one you need.

I used to always take my empties to the cellar before going to bed so my wife wouldn't see how much I drank after she fell asleep. Then at some point I realized that we've been married over a decade, so if she hasn't left me yet, it was probably OK to just leave them out.

Headed downtown for a draft pour of the only 2020 BCBS variant I do not have a bottle of, 2020 Proprietor’s Bourbon County Stout.

Passed the mothership on the way.

Live at Hopsmith. $12 for 9 oz draft in a snifter, cheaper than the $29.99 bottle MSP.

After letting this warm to proper serving temperature, away we go.

    Online beer notes:
This year’s Proprietor's Bourbon County Stout was inspired by third-generation Italian American brewer Emily Kosmal’s love of spumoni, a classic Italian frozen treat. Spumoni is a tri-colored frozen dessert that contains candied fruit and nuts between each layer, historically including flavors such as pistachio, cherry and chocolate. Blended with fresh pistachios, cacao nibs, candied Amarena cherries, and natural vanilla flavors, the 2020 Proprietor’s Bourbon County Stout is incredibly complex and layered with cocoa, nut, and dark fruit notes with hints of vanilla and oak. Emily, who also created the concept for 2016 Proprietor’s, is our first brewer to have two Proprietor’s concepts picked for release.

Appearance: Pitch black pour, very fine bubbly bright tan ring around the glass. 4.5

    Aroma:
Very strong smooth bourbon after 15 minutes of warming. Faint Nuts, oak and cherry after several attempts. Expected more. 3.75

    Taste:
Much more bold and varied than the aroma. Very sweet, plums, cherries, dark chocolate, walnuts. Bourbon backs though cannot keep up with the sweetness. Different, more of a pastry stout than a traditional Bourbon County, further out of bounds than previous Proprietor’s. Smooth sweetness is the short and sweet of it, May gain balance with age. 3.75

    Mouthfeel:
Very creamy, rich and decadent, one of the smoothest BCBS variants I’ve had. Full/medium body, faint carbonation, light sweet creamy aftertaste. 4.75

    Overall:
Very sweet pastry BA stout, unique even for Proprietor standards. Smooth bourbon backs, strong, hits you midway into the 9 oz pour. Overall good effort, but would sit on this for a better balanced experience, unless you are seeking maximum sweetness. 4.0

Best two songs so far among the Christmas music stream at the bar.

Hello, brothers and sisters. Ghost Emoji from Tree House. Yet another Nelson beer for me. I suppose I should be saving these for tomorrow, but that is neither here nor there. Nelson Sauvin; you either get it, or you don't. Peace...

I like Stanley Clarke music. The whiskey looks awesome. '73 I was in San Diego. USS DENVER, fresh out of dry dock, getting ready for a WESPAC cruise.

I can find this in bottles in some stores, and in cans in other stores, equal freshness. Good to have the choice I guess.

Taking the Christmas festivity anywhere I can find it, thank you Sierra Ferrell
