At one of my favorite dive bars, Monkey's Tail. Outside on their patio, its a wonderful 60 degrees out but people in Houston always treat that as the coming of Hell freezing over. Oh well, their loss

Saint Arnold Christmas Ale, and continuing on with the ridiculous black comedy of Iris Murdoch (I wouldn't have it any other way with her novels).

Then an Old Fashioned, and a huge Chicken Fried Steak. The mashed potatoes have feta cheese and jalapenos in them :astonished::sunglasses:

...@Thankin_Hank...I think this is a start of a beautiful relationship (definitely for this evening, what with beer, whiskey and mezcal, and disjointed jazz connections)...don't have my Stanley Clark vinyl or CD handy (his first album), but FedEx did drop off this Bobby Hutherson album today...which I'm sure that other fine Texan @champ103 will enjoy...

Having another Boundary IPA. Simply fantastic. Fast becoming one of my favorite breweries. I may need to take a trip to Belfast when this whole pandemic thing is over...

#2, forgot I had this, it’s like a piece of apple crisp in a beer. Really digging this on a damp, chilly evening in Northern Indiana.

I never saw Johnny in concert but did see Edgar Winters in NY back in the late 60’s. I wish I could remember more but in those days you know.......

@beergoot yep  Love everything with Bobby Hutcherson. Is that the newish Blue Note Tone Poet release? I really want to get that one...hmmm

What I did just recently find, is kind of a "whale" for for me, and I love it. Cecil Taylor In Transition. Part of those wonderful Blue Note 70's 2 LP re-issues. A couple of mid 50's records here, and he is just as out there as ever

Oh, and an always amazing 512 Pecan Porter.

    You are correct, sir!

It is the new Blue Note Tone Poet reissue.

And, you bastard, another original Blue Note Re-Issue I may have to pursue. You probably recall chatting about the series a while back. I already had a few (e.g., Jean-Luc Ponty and perhaps two or three others). Now, I have at least 10-15 (acquired primarily through Discogs). The Andrew Hill, Sam Rivers, and Jazz Crusaders sets readily come to mind as sets I may not have acquired until hearing your enthusiasm for this early Blue Note series. And killer albums, they are...

Beer, books, music...you, sir, are a zymurlogic renaissance man...

3 Floyds Alpha Klaus...delicious but hoppy as hell. Could pass for a Black IPA, a damn good one. Haven’t had a beer like this in a while...makes me miss Lagunitas Night Time.

I've spent my fair share of time and dollars studying different ones. They were good, hell some were fantastic. But the energy and resources need to acquire them does seem to make sense when 12 packs of Celebration are sitting in every bottle shop I go to at a price point of like $15. Of course, IPA isn't my favorite style, so I am biased, ha. But I hear where you're coming from.

    Hee hee, I try.

I don't have the Andrew Hill or Jean-Luc Ponty...well I do have another Blue Note re-issue of Ponty but not part of these 2 LP issues. Its a live concert from the 60's that wasn't released till late 70's early 80's on BN. Anyway, Andrew Hill is one I'm really wanting right now, I found one but not paying $70 for it. I'm sure eventually I'll track down a reasonably priced one.

And those Tone Poet reissues are just stunning. The one you posted is on my list to get, and there is a Donald Byrd being released later this month I will have to track down as well.
