Matt brewing company seems to have finally started to brew some quality beers over the past few months. With the emergence of their White Ipa, Red Ipa, and Belgian PA has come some pretty damn tasty beers compared to the majority of their other creations. Never was i a fan of any Saranac products untill recently and I sure am glad that they have finally found their niche. Cheers to Saranac and Cheers to Craft beer

Improving or simply catering to the tastes of Hop Nation? I never thought they were a bad brewery to begin with, just didn't brew many hoppy beers.

I always thought their imperial stout was quite nice. Their caramel porter on the other hand... ಠ_ಠ

I'll have to try some again. Kinda gave up on them before. This is why I read all this shit.

I've always been a fan of Saranac, just because they got me into craft beer. Coming from Central NY, it's always awesome to see the vast number of nominally different seasonals and whatnot to come through stores and always at very reasonable prices, so between them and Magic Hat (back when they still made Hocus Pocus, which was just about my favorite beer in 2007), they really opened to door for me to craft beer.

My understanding is that they brought in a new brewer a while back, the first recipe she (I believe it's a woman) brought into the fold was the White IPA. I wouldn't be surprised if some of these improvements are at least partially the result of whatever new personnel they brought in around that time.

I can honestly say i never really enjoyed any beer from them besides these recent new brews. I did not know they brought on a new brewer which would explain the new recent hoppy additions. Im glad to see she is improving the quality of their work. But i do agree that Saranac was one of the first few brewery's that welcomed me into craft beer. Along with Magic Hat. However the first time I tried SNPA my palate was forever shifted.

I had the White IPA this summer and similarly thought it was a notch above anything I had previously experienced from Saranac.

I ‘ve bought 12 pack recently. I drain poured most of it, could not finish any of the styles in the pack. I’ll never buy Saranac again.

That White IPA fresh was delicious. Their Pale Pale from a mix 12 was also really tasty and well made. Will have to try that Belgian Pale recommended above. Saranac has some decent beers and some real sucky ones too over the years, but they have def stepped up their game.

I had a Saranc brew AGEEEESSS ago, and I can not remember a dang thing about it. Perhaps that either a good or bad thing depending on your point of view.

The ironic thing is I only see Saranc mix packs at a common nearby grocery store, instead of say my regular beer outlets I shop at who keep good rotating selections.

Every pack I have picked up is ANCIENT cause nobody buys the darn thing, it sits there forever. Prevents me from wanting to get some. Would like to give their mix pack a go.

Really enjoy Black Forest.... they nailed what a Schwarzbier is supposed to be. Other than that however, i think most of thier brews are sufficent, just not mind blowing by any means.

Saranac makes some damn good beers and the hate they get is laughable compared to the praise given for $20 bottles of barrel aged shit some breweries push out

I really liked the 4029' porter or whatever it was called from the winter mix pack, but other than that I've never really been impressed. Not that their beers are bad, there's certainly a bunch of tasty brews out there by them, but just like everyone else says, they've never really wowed me. They're super cheap though, which I think is their main selling point; decent beer for a decent price.

Who are you, Robin Leach? Saranac's not that bad. Once in a while they make something gross (Caramel Porter, Pumpkin Ale, etc.—though I dislike most pumpkin beers), but most of what they make is more inoffensive than anything, if not decent and occasionally pretty good (White IPA, and their Pale Ale fresh).

Sorry, I'm not trying to be that snarky; I'm just curious what you found to be so horrible about their beers that "most of it" deserved a drainpour.

Their White IPA is totally rock solid, especially for the price point. I can think of quite a few more expensive bombers of beer that I enjoyed less than that one.

Can't really comment on the other new stuff since I've never searched Saranac out.

I don't think I have ever finished a bottle of Saranac beer. I've fallen asleep due to boredom before I could empty it.

I personally find Saranac to be a bit ho-hum, i.e. nothing special, but then again I haven't had any of their beers for at least a couple of years.

I was a big fan of them when I started on this increasingly expensive hobby. That dude who dumped most of a 12'er seems crazy. They're by no means outstanding, and I haven't bought anything from them in years, but they're solid, and a great entry level at least.
