This is true to a point. However, people today and not just my generation (I’m 28) are leaning toward cremation. Traditional funerals are on their way out, the average “funeral” is going to cost you around $10-12,000. Cremation for us is about $2500. Some places are even at less than $1000, (but they are gonna hit you with hidden fees; so check your places.) Don’t need to tell you, you’ve got to do a lot of cremations to make up for that one “funeral.” In the end cremation prices are going to inflate, I don’t know when but it’s coming. Not to mention, with less money coming in, you aren’t going to be able to staff like you had been, won’t need as many embalmers on staff.

Cremation rates are hovering near 70%. And I see a lot of older guys who just can’t grasp it, so there’s going to be a big shift in funerals sooner or later. Fortunately I got into this young, and I can adapt to what may come easier than some who’ve been doing it the same way since the 70’s.

I'm a high school chemistry teacher, 10 years in, used to work in a lab before that.

I'm very grateful to teach in a state that takes care of us pretty well and to have a job that was not affected financially by this pandemic. Though I do foresee possible effects as a whole later on, pay freezes, etc.

I'm a geologist, so I'm actually contractually obliged to love craft beer. And to have a beard.

Retired. I am considered "my lyrics guy" by a friend who sings with multiple bands for whom I write, and has a recording studio, otherwise I work on my other writing projects, forage the woods during season, and enjoy not having to work each day.

My main gigs in life were owning a maintenance company, managing a recycling facility, and working various food service and custodial positions, both as worker and as mgt. Not proud of also working for a defense contractor for almost five years, but the money was good, and we were saving for a house. Almost went into partnership with two friends to brew commercially at Dutchess Hops, but we couldn't reach terms with ownership (our failure to reach terms resulted in Kent Falls Brewing Company forming, without me).

Very much enjoy retirement, I highly recommend it.

Farmed for the first 8 years of my career, have been doing IT work since then with a major player. Little bit of everything, have avoided management the whole time. Currently focusing on physical security systems. Spent a good chunk of my career with Enron (the pipelines).

Undecided . . . if ministry, it would likely be prison chaplaincy. But I might go further into a PhD, depending.

I'm (still) an attorney in Chicago practicing Workers' Compensation law - currently on the defense side, although I've worked on both sides in my career.
