God I want your job

I'm still doing the same job as last job I posted, civilian contractor doing infosec/netsec for the on e of the military branches.

tl;dr - If you know me closely I was born on an AFB grew up in base housing across the country before working for a AFB. I am the first male in 4 generations not to enlist in the military on my Dad's side. My mom was Canadian (and I'm half canuck) so I just wanna open a bottle, smoke something, and chill.

Retired after 35 years in law enforcement.

 

Funny, you don't look like an Italian shark!

 

I manage a stand at farmer's market 3 days a week and I am a stay at home dad 3 days a week. We sell a wide variety of speciality meat and cheese. I frequently get to talk beer pairings with our amazing customers.

 

I run the chemical safety program at a well known research institute. Been in academic safety about 5 years....no dull moments.

 

I once worked a summer with four guys who all were mortuary science majors at a local school they said had a great program for it, SUNY Farmingdale. I gotta say I was a maniac partier back in those days (probably surprising to many, but true ) but those guys all stand out in memory as some of the hardest partying folks I've ever known, it was hard to keep up. Very fond memories of that crew.

Did/do you find that true of industry folks in your experience? I mean, kinda easy to understand how you'd have some stuff to unload. Just wondering.

 

I am now a retired oilfield geologist. My wife came out of retirement a month before I retired, so now I get up and get her out the door, clean house, cook, work at my hobbies and enjoy life fully for the first time in decades.

Wow, almost exactly what I do at home during my retirement...except my wife is always at home. Cheers!

 

I consider the Professional lines part of P&C, I certainly write some of it, mostly D&O and EPL. And yeah, I had to deal with our E&O coverage in the past, including being in the hot seat for a claim against us (dismissed of course, it was BS).

Lol, well when my wife is home, she’s in her chair with her feet up. She only does the laundry every other job is mine.

 

I retired 1/31/15 after 25 years of being a trial attorney/civil litigator/partner in large Florida firms that focused on high exposure products liability and insurance defense claims. My partners said I’d be back in 6 months. Never went back, never even think about the practice, and early retirement was best decision I ever made - Cheers!

 

I'm a philosopher and I teach philosophy at three institutions, currently. Before you ask, philosophers ask philosophical questions to determine what underlying philosophical beliefs are held by people, systems, and societies and examine whether or not they are clear, reasonable, and consistent. We're seeking new paths forward in tired debates and try to uncover unthought possibilities that have been hidden by concepts, assumptions, and history.
Of course, if you ask another philosopher, you'll get another answer to this question.
When drinking, I don't prefer to discuss philosophical matters because I find most people, myself included, are not thinking at their best. No dogs or philosophers allowed.
