Now you’re just starting to sound like a certain president. “We have the best reviews ever. No one has seen ratings like these before.”

The main difference is that you have actually proven your comments to be true. So, damn it, I’m sure I’ll be buying more of this release than I originally planned on.

Like I said, if anyone is interested in going halfsies on this next round with me, please reach out. These reviews sound so good.

Have I mentioned that this is an incredible batch of Straight Jacket? I'm pretty sure I have.

Just in case: this is an incredible batch of Straight Jacket. Especially if you prefer the English version of the style that is on the sweet/malty end of the equation, and isn't a bourbon bomb, but contains multitudes*.

I'll be grabbing a few more 4 packs.

Listener up there! what have you to confide to me?
Look in my face while I snuff the sidle of evening,
(Talk honestly, no one else hears you, and I stay only a minute longer.)

    Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,

Had a Straight Jacket with dinner tonight. Liked it, didn't love it, preferred last year's version. I need to try another can but I didn't think it had enough richness or body to support the sweetness. Just felt a little bit hollow, I guess.

On a related note, I'm in the market for an actual straight jacket (kids' size 5T). If anyone has a lead on where to get one, let me know.

Must be something with the waning gibbous. I can relate.

I told my wife last night that I was going down to the basement with our 2.5 year old, who was in a mood, to get a straight jacket. The look I got was less "don't put him in a straight jacket" and more "why didn't you tell me we have a straight jacket in his size earlier".

@BeerCruncher I feel like there is a missed marketing opportunity here - Rev branded straight jackets in toddler and kid sizes ...:joy:

I called it "more tame than previous years" in my Untappd review. Still tasty though.

Just got poured a bit of VSOD from last year blind. I swore it was Cafe with how much coffee fudge I was getting, really really great and a big surprise when I found out. Has me very excited for DBVSOD.

Because it's a Friday in 2020, I drank a 2019 Honey Jacket (7/12/19) and a 2020 Honey Jacket (11/4/20) side by side. NOT blind, because I'm too lazy.

2019: Still boozy up front. Mild honey & oak notes; bourbon really opens up once warm. The mouthfeel is a bit thinner.

2020: Oh, it's sweeter for sure. Malty, with a more supple mouthfeel and notes of honey (duh), oak & much milder bourbon. Once warm, some honeyed wheat flavors emerged.

One idiot's opinion: I much prefer 2020. 2019 tasted really good, and I think it's calmed down quite a bit on the ethanol front, but the things I want in an English barleywine brewed with honey and aged in bourbon barrels are much more apparent in the 2020 version.

Side note: how dare this site put a red "you spelled this wrong" underline under barleywine? @Todd

I’d say you drank them sighted instead of blind but I don’t want to participate in that kind of ableist rhetoric

Congratulations to GuyFawkes' cellar which recently surpassed the Revolution Brewpub as the 2nd biggest Revolution pouring establishment behind the Kedzie Taproom.
