Savage got all his licenses back & functioning as normal - with the national bump from Fox & conservative media.

    Great.

Yup. It doesn’t appear there’s ultimately a penalty for disobeying shelter in place orders.

After the chaos at the Ozarks the police basically said, “We can’t do anything. There’s no mandate in place now.”

I would love to see guys like this go to Germany, or worse, China.

It's funny because I was in Germany when COVID was spreading and talking to the people there, they weren't at all concerned about it. I think they locked things down the following week. I guess the success they've had at containing it is reason to have not been concerned.

They had a lot of testing right out of the gate, and were able to separate people and restrict the spread.

I wouldn't be that concerned if I was in Germany either.

The photo of the owner says it all...slouched with his nose exposed above the mask. Not taking any of this seriously still or just completely ignorant. Tough call.

Sure, "well" is relative, but let's look at some stats. Cases per 100,000 people for some countries:

    United States: 58
    Mexico: 7.7
    Canada: 17
    Australia: 0
    Thailand: 0
    India: 2.7
    Japan: 1.6
    Finland: 7.5
    Norway: 6.8

There are only 4 countries doing worse than the U.S.: Lithuania, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro.

Covid’s having a huge impact regarding mental health all over the world I’m sure.

But Japan also has one of the lowest death rates from Covid per capita in the world. 17.22 per million. If, for example, they did nothing at all for Covid the deaths from Covid would likely far outweigh those from suicide.

The US deaths per capita is 838 per million. 838 million vs. 17.22 per million. That’s insane.

Also, Japan isn’t like China. They didn’t aggressively force the rules on people. The Japanese are incredibly disciplined and good at following rules. They’re exponentially less independent than US citizens. Our independence is something to proud of in certain circumstances, but during a pandemic, not so much.

Your statement about following the "rules" has nothing to do with this story or mental health in general.

I mean people would be doing shitty due to the pandemic regardless of restrictions/rules, no? I don't care what is "allowed", my family would be taking the same precautions no matter the government decrees. I see those following the current rules called "sheep" by the supposed freedom fighters, but if the govt said everything was ok, then would it be "sheep" who are packing in indoor dining and so forth? Because the government says it is ok?

The world economy and social interactions are sufficiently screwed with or without govt intervention, it's a PANDEMIC. Because people who follow the science are making their own value judgments to protect themselves and others.
