I think you nailed it. Even in the best of times, a brewery's number one purpose is to sell beer, and it generally makes little business sense to keep it sitting around. I would imagine it's very hard to balance this with building a happy/loyal customer base.

This. 100% this. In a FB group I'm in a guy from Alaska was looking for a local proxy for his Rev order. Not just DBVSOD but for other Rev beers he ordered as well. Other Rev beers he wouldn't have bought without being able to proxy his order. And how many of us have placed Side Project proxy orders this year? Or from other breweries nowhere near us? We need to get over the "proxies allowed sucks" mentality as it's helping keeping our beloved breweries afloat during an especially hard and shitty year.

If that guy lives near Anchorage, I'd certainly be trying to help him out for a proxy friendship.

Revolution does it right in my opinion; allow proxies but limit it to 5. Nobody likes being behind that person in line proxying for 25 people.

If you wanted to keep it a bit more in check just drop that 5 down to 3 or something

I don’t think Rev would have any trouble selling beer, proxies or not.

No one said proxies suck. I proxy for a few awesome people here on BA. I was just speaking to the possibility of increased availability to locals if proxies weren’t allowed.

Or stuck behind the person ordering sandwiches/burritos/coffee for their entire office or extended family. Coffee for me is especially irritating...my go to is a large black cold brew. It takes longer for the credit card machine to read my card then it does to make my drink

But then my proxy group of five (which is more like 12 this time since I bought for seven other people on my order) would double its carbon footprint!

I agree with this for the hyped releases (which I believe we've learned could be limited to a single blend/tank). I'm not trying to say they're having "trouble" selling beer, but I think they're going to find every way they can to make it easier to buy and move more Deep Woods of all kinds as fast as they can. Mainstays like Deth's, SJ, and Ryeway have lingered at the taproom and in distro for weeks or months the past few years - why wouldn't they want the cash on hand instead? With respect to this release, DBVSOD could probably have had a 1-pack limit and still sold out within 30 minutes, but that's got to be extremely hard for a brewery to gauge. Maple was highly anticipated but available for some time after release, and you can still get Cherries now too.

I'm not complaining, as I believe the comparative availability of extremely high quality product has been a large factor in the growth of recognition for the program over the past few years. Without knowing how many sales are proxied it's hard to know how much of an impact the policy has had anyway.

Is Coffee Eugene going to be added to the curbside menu in time for Friday pickups?

I love the question, and the beer. But you would be better off tweeting to Rev directly (or on FB or email). There is no expectation or obligation that someone that works for the brewery would respond here.
Just make sure to report back here what you find.

They said on Insta that it will be available for curbside later this week, so I assume that will mean Friday.

This years Coffee Eugene is being canned 3 times, each with 3 different coffee roasters (Sip of Hope, Metropolis, Dark Matter). The roaster is printed on the bottom of the can. The Curbside Operation is going to sell six-packs with 3 Dark Matter & 3 Metropolis cans each, hence the delay in getting those up for sale. I believe the plan was today, based on when the 3rd one would be canned. If you want to find the Sip of Hope six-pack, you'll want to hit up this first waive in the market on store shelves and confirm by looking at the bottom of the can.

In terms of where to find it, this is being treated as a Seasonal this year, meaning you'll find it most places that would have carried Oktoberfest, then Fistmas, and after Coffee Eugene, A Little Crazy & Sun Crusher.
