Finback Brewery (2020)

It was pretty clear they threw together that presale last minute. I was good sitting this one out but I had a friend ask to go half on the small allotment so I said why not. I get the pushback though. It seems like any BQE release is destined to piss people off.

 

No one is forcing anyone to do anything. So what if some people miss out on bqe? Plenty of other good barrel aged stouts out there.

 

I don't think they're obligated to do anything LEGALLY. But ethically it's a little fraught to potentially promote a release that will cause a line of people. Hopefully the vast majority goes the presale route so there's minimal to no line. But they're definitely setting themselves up for potential trouble here if they miscalculate how many people want a double barrel or regular etc, and are also ok with a $22 bottle of chai stout and end up with dozens of people in line.

 

What time is everyone lining up tomorrow?

 

Already in line, great night, not cold.

 

Glimmering is great btw. Has a little cotton candy note to it but still some bitterness to balance it out. Smooth for a triple.

 

if you're not here by now, you're probably out of luck. 250-300 in line at this point. Hope they open early tomorrow.

When is the blend with Side Project BBT being announced?

 

Is anyone actually there? Trying to decide if I want to drive 2 hrs round trip.

 

Can’t speak for queens, but there’s maybe 20 people, or less, in Brooklyn.

 

Double barrel sold out at QNS. They said they have plenty of everything else. Maybe about 40 people in line now.

 

QNS line rapidly disappearing. Will probably have no line in about 30

Anyone try the Simcoe or the Condition Green?

 

I had Simcoe, it was alright. Last single hop I had was Cashmere and I really enjoyed that.

 

Condition Green is good. Has a cherry cola note which is something I usually get from Cashmere. Also the usual Finback slight burn and bitterness to balance out the sweetness. If you like Finback DIPAs you’ll like this one.

 

Double barrel bqe is amazing. I wish I had more than two bottles

 

Couldn't make it to the release. Any idea what a full set is going for?
