After you complete this project please start work on some low cost method to cut the noise in brewpub taprooms. If you can do it for rockets, brewpubs should be a slam dunk.

I was one of 2 students invited to a New Mexico Geological Society field conference in 1978(I think) There were 50 4WD vehicles in the caravan as we visited key sites to study mineralized ring dikes around extinct volcanoes-the first 48 vehicles were geologists from around the world, the last 2 were pickups trucks with their beds filled with cases of beer and ice. The first 4 stops each morning we all grabbed a beer and listened to the presenter. After that everybody found a bush to pee behind, then ran for the beer trucks. I was very well trained as a future geologist.

That's easy enough! The medium and high frequency stuff is easy. Plenty of companies already supply those foams and treatments... Breweries just need to pay for it! Haha. It's the low frequency that gets very complicated!

Well that tells me that pub owners either like noise or don't want to spend the money to quiet down the place. :slight_frown:

COVID made some people realize a nomadic workforce actually can be productive.

    Sad. But true.

Pilot for a major US airline. Great job to get to visit great breweries all over, if we have enough time on the layover. However, I haven’t touched a plane since July and won’t be until February at the earliest. Upside is that I’ve picked up a job at a local beer store to keep me busy.

It's interesting because discussing what we do in our daily lives is something that is so common and trivial in our culture, yet we need it and take it for granted. If we were getting to know each other face-to-face (of course with a beer in hand!), we would definitely talk about our jobs(and family, hobbies) etc. Whether at a bar, restaurant, social event, etc. That's why I think this thread is so important. It's impactful in this age of Covid. We all are wanting normal social interaction again. Cheers to you and stay safe and healthy, my friend.

Couldn't have said it better myself, especially the want for normal social interation.

    Cheers to you!

I was hitch-hiking in California in 1972 and was picked up by a group of geologists who had been hunting for- and finding- gold. They had a big cooler full of Ranier and Coors, just driving like normal, and passing me a beer about every five minutes. It was a really fun time. I am an old rock hound/artifact hunter still finding great stuff just by keeping my eyes open. I found an amethyst crystal this week in an extruded quartz vein.

That’s an amazing story, I feel like I’m picturing the opening scene in fear and loathing haha.

I feel like I do the same thing with wildlife and other things, just being observant I mean. People are always shocked when I tell them how many times I’ve seen bald eagles around our parts. All you gotta do is look everyone. You and my father in law would get along he does the same thing with artifacts any time fields get plowed. He finds some insanely old Native American stuff, it’s really neat.

I'm an engineering supervisor at a nuclear power plant. We focus on equipment reliability to keep the turbines (and most importantly generators) spinning. Good to see some other nukes out there!

We had a River Otter show up in our park's 13 acre lake this week. Wow, what a cool, happy creature. I enjoy watching the ospreys hit the water and leave with a fish. We live in the park along many miles of trails. The wildlife really is astonishing for a sylvan haven in a city of about 300,000.

Now retired, I roast coffee, brew beer, and keep busy enough not to be bored, but relax enough to enjoy a basically good life so far.
