Looks like the next super-fruited berliner might be coming up soon. Just saw on BL’s brewery page on Untappd that a new entry for a 5.5% ABV fruited berliner named Mixing Metaphors was created today. No description on the entry, but same ABV and style as Toes to the Nose.

I love your enthusiasm, though I very frequently just add good names right when I think of them. Otherwise, I'll forget them or someone else will snag them!

If an entry is totally fleshed-out with a complete description, it's probably about to be packaged for release! (I finished seven entries out today, if you enjoy the hunt!) :beers:

Noticed Dank Farrik and That is Not Food. Love the Mandalorian references!

Definitely will grab bottles of gap year. For those that have had Gap Year already, is it very similar to Modern Times Chaos grid LOL ? I've had it a few times and loved it. Reminds me like a liquid snickers bar, and this seems quite similar. Maybe less sweet .

Haven't had GY yet, but the base beer is closer to a snickers bar than CG: LOL is in my opinion (that's non-BA vs. BA). Hoping the BA'ing to get to GY will keep the snickers quality going strong.

Haven't had Gap Year yet, but I can tell you that MT's pastry stouts are generally sweeter than your average BL pastry. For *some* folks that's a plus.

Excited for Gap Year I don't think anyone has to worry about not making the sale at 4pp.

A little bummed no REN this year it looks like, but the replacement version of it, Scatter Signal, looks pretty damn good. Might have to run up there today and grab one For Science!

Did they specifically state no REN this year? While unlikely since Scatter is a coffeefied version of DSN, the year's not over yet. :grinning:

True, at the current rate they're releasing Stasis beers now it might have been announced by the time I finish making this post.

I personally really enjoy that people can taste and review beers before I decide to purchase. Theres too much out there and if anyone noticed Pure Project did a BA release today that normally would have been limit 1pp and instantly sold out but instead was 2pp and took almost an hour. I think a lot of folks in CA are sick of dishing out $40 on a BA stout that might be 'meh'.

Market saturation. Three or four years ago, a decent barrel-aged stout was something a little special to come across, particularly here in southern California. A lot of places did it, but not many did it well. Nowadays, everyone and their momma is making a decent barrel-aged stout. It’s the same thing that happened with NEIPAs. So many options, people’s dollars are being spent far and wide and bringing down demand at the more notorious spots. I’m definitely not complaining.

By the way, speaking of good barrel-aged stouts, Scatter Signal is delicious. Great body, barrel, and adjuncts. I maxed out today on 6 bottles. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, Bottle Logic has absolutely crushed it with their barrel program in 2020. The amount of total bangers from this year (barrel program and otherwise, I’m personally looking forward to more of those super-fruited berliners) is hard to keep track of.

Agreed on all counts on Scatter Signal, popped one of mine tonight and its fantastic. The rye barrel/cacao nib/coffee flavors play so well yet its quite smooth. Marshmallow gives it a thickness/body and a bit of a vanilla flavor almost? It's a rich mexican hot chocolate to me with a huge marshmallow melted in it. I got 4 in the locals only sale and will be back for more on the Eventbrite sale.

You guys are not lying about Scatter Signal. I bought 2 bottles trying to cut back because I buy way too much beer. This one is good. One of BL's best IMO. I will be buying more tomorrow.

Gap Year tastes delicious but I have to say that Scatter Signal is on another level. Holy shit!

    Dear BL Hive Mind,

How long do the BL crowlers typically hold for?

Trying to strategize my holiday boozing.

    Thanks!

I had a crowler of vanilla barleywine for a good 4 months and it held perfectly.

never had any issues with any prolonged fridge storage with any of the big beer crowlers from BL. Im pretty sure they are very rigorous with their QC so they make sure poorly sealed crowlers dont make it to sale.
