I know I'm a month late to the party on this but I'm having a Deth by Cherries right now, and yeah, I'm having trouble thinking of a fruited stout that's better than this.

My friend kinda fucked me up.

He asked if I thought Deth By Cherries tastes like Cherry Coke. I promptly told him he's nuts.

The next night I had a Deth By Cherries "for science"....

I don't get the jammy fruit flavor from Cherry Coke I get from DbC.

Oh, I 100% think this is a 'power of suggestion' type of situation.

I texted him to "Get out of my head", so hopefully he will comply & I can get back to my unadulterated Rev barrel love.

I NEVER thought it tasted like Cherry Coke before, for either the first batch or this one, until he made this off-hand comment.

This was my first thought when I had my first can of Deth by Cherries. The crazy thing is that Deth isn’t brewed with cacao and vanilla, but it tastes like it does. It’s amazing.

@croush poured me Destroyed by the Empire and it feels like I just got spatchcocked.

I’ve had bourbon that tastes less like bourbon than this beer.

Agreed, and I'm not sure that's a good thing. I'll have a 2020 Revolution crowler index ready tomorrow, for all (checks notes) 3 of you that give a shit.

Here are my notes that I took after having 3/4 of the crowler so if they're ridiculous, that's why. Somewhat edited for clarity.
L - Whatever that super dark black color is that absorbs 99.9% of light
S - The most luxurious chocolate truffles infused with loads of oak and bourbon
F - A thiccc guy. Syrupy. A heavyweight blanket coating
T - A coalescence of age an flavor unparalleled in any barrel aged stout I've ever had. The oak hits you up front and lets you know this liquid has a boatload of age, then the bourbon hits and stays but not in a way where you feel only the heat. (Not in my notes but what I was thinking: Decadent. Kinda almost tastes like bourbon has been aged in beer if that makes sense at all)
O - A truly remarkable beer that shows what a barrel program can accomplish with dedication, patience, and science

Had a DB and MG last night.

Double Barrel was exceptionally smooth for such a high ABV stout. Those talking about fruity notes are spot on, tons of that followed by beautiful chocolate and oaky notes. Great beer.

I absolutely loved Mineshaft Gap though. The definition of a sipper, the cognac brings an additional layer of complexity you don't get with SJ.

    Seriously Mineshaft is so good.

Had Straight Jacket last night. Cold it was great but as it got to room temp it was just stunning. I don't see how there's a better barrel aged Barleywine. Cafe Deth is still my favorite so far from this lineup but if Deth's Tar and Straight Jacket was the entirety of the Rev Deep Woods series it would still be world class.

I got home from my pickup last night around 10:30pm, pulled a Mineshaft Gap directly out of the trunk, and enjoyed the hell out of it.
