Good comp. I think Schlenkerla is also similar in that the more I sipped the better the Biersal got. Lately I value beers that improve as you consume vs ones with an initial blow out flavor punch.

I was surprised to realize it may be my favorite of the beers I ordered, even over desitka and tenner. Maybe just hit my palate right, but I wish I had bought more.

Amazing that this will be the first side pull set up in this area with all the great beer bars and new tap rooms. Boston deserves a lager experience like this... Such an easy uber ride from downtown or Cambridge if someone is visiting for a conference.

Honestly wondering what kind of specific logistics go into this, as one would think Trillium or Night Shift would have installed one (despite not being proper stewards imho).

    I wonder if

Trillium, being influenced by Notch, got their faucets installed by Modern Draught as well

I dunno, that Tmavý might be my favorite out of the Desítka and Biersal I also purchased.

Are those side pull taps though?

I think Nightshift or Trillium wouldn't bother with those given they don't brew specific Czech styles like Notch does.

For example, Schilling has side pulls because they brew specific Czech styles. As opposed to the typical, "Czech Pilsner".

    To be specific:
    • LUKR CZ - Taps
    • Modern Draught - Installation

The side taps may have been influenced by Notch, but I'm pretty sure Trillium was one of MD's very first customers. In fact, I believe one of MD's co-founders is ex-Trillium.

Notch’s influence was to the Lukr faucets. Nonetheless, agreed - They are an advocator for MD, who have installed their standard taps previously (at all locations)

Kind of odd that Trillium would bother with LUKR and not be advocates for "side pull lager." I wonder if I can get a milk pour of triple IPA when things open back up...

Sounds like I'll have to revisit Tmavý tonight, you know, for science!

Yeah. Not to be too negative about Trillium, but having those as a gimmick rather than for actual intended use sounds right up their alley. Probably upcharge for "milk pour" of trub.

Notch doing a beer subscription program next year. Very tempting.

Trillium is an Instagram brewery. Style over substance, and the substance in the cans is getting worse.

If Brighton is on track to open in the Spring, it becomes less of an issue (getting Notch beer that is), but damn, if I move back to MA, I'd be tempted to hop on this.

Well, we still have Tenner and Standard.

    Carhartt overalls, I approve.

I thought Altbier went into a Stange? At least this is what I recall seeing from people's trips to Dusseldorf in the Germany forum.

“Someone called us out the other day for putting Altbier in a stange,” Allan says. “And we just say, ‘Yeah we know, but this is what we have.’ Since we take it so seriously, people take us even more seriously sometimes.”

@mrmattosgood / @AlcahueteJ - Chris might correct me here, but pretty sure Desítka will be brewed again (i.e. article is referencing final run of the year) +

Thanks for sharing that. Makes me love Notch even more, not just for what they do but the way the do it. Chris is a class act and it permeates the whole operation.

Reading this makes me realize that, despite the shit sandwich 2020 has been, we’re truly blessed to be able to place an order for that variety of lager styles (true to style) that can be delivered straight to your door step.

    Also, Černé‘s out!?
