In no particular order: Bell's, Revolution Brewing, Goose Island, Fremont, Side Project, Cigar City Brewing.

I would vote bells personally. On a smaller local scale Kane makes perfect stouts. Adjunct or no adjunct both are always well made and balanced.

    Bell's and Deschutes for sure.

    Cheers!

I don't have an opinion on what brewery makes the best Stouts. Brooklyn Brewery makes my favorite Stout Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. For a year or so a while back they also brewed an excellent Irish Dry Stout which I guess did not sell well.

Hard to find in my area too, but don't forget about the equally difficult to find Narwhal. It's a great offering that isn't too over the top.

I am a fan of Narwhal especially with some cellaring time. I was able to find a four-pack about a year ago and I still have two cans left in my cellar.

    Cheers!

Like @dennisthreeninefiveone I have no opinion on who makes the best stout as I love the unique tastes breweries get that can do stouts well. I already see a lot of good ones that I like mentioned already with the exception of Bottle Logic, which makes good stouts, so I'll add them to the running list.

I will take take Guinness. I really enjoy their regular and holiday stouts.

    I believe it's any day you don't feel like drinking a porter?

So, about 350 days of the year? Which I don't -- but doesn't mean I don't feel like it.

I find that many times I'll be probing around the less used shelves in the beer fridge, looking for something "different", and all too frequently just push aside the porters and stouts.

When I finally do open one, I say to myself:
"Goddam this stuff is great. Why don't drink them more often?"

I bought some Guinness Draught last week -- used to drink it all the time and sort of moved away. With it's lower alcohol and carb content I decided to try it again -- and yeah, forgot what I'd been missing. Hope I didn't break any seasonal rules.

A stout that was quite popular in the beer trade circles maybe 5-7 years ago but seems to have fallen off the radar is Resolute by Brothers Brewing out of Harrisonburg, VA. That is really a great beer. I went to their Resolute release festival in 2018 and had many of the variants and many were excellent as well (but one offs for the festival).

Bells. BA expedition is better than 90% of the stouts trading in the limited section at any given time.

I bought a bottle I think two years ago. I thought it was one of the best barrel aged stouts I’ve ever had. I’d love to see if again someday.

Heavy Seas and Dark Horse are unheralded. Also, not sure how they are these days but Victory At Sea by Ballast Point use to be just outstanding. Also, Eddie Fitz and Blackout are solid choices. Cigar City holds their own.

The aforementioned still probably take the cake.

I like a lot of Epic Stouts. Deschutes has already been mentioned as has Fremont.

I feel like Sam Smith should be in this conversation. Though I've kinda lost my taste for chocolate flavored stouts, I remember trying their Organic Chocolate Stout when it first came out years ago and being really impressed. Has a high ranking here on BA too. And their Oatmeal Stout is, in my opinion, one of the best. And if we're lumping porters into the evaluation process, which seems fair, then Sam Smith scores again with Taddy Porter.

Fremont, Founders, Goose Island, Oskar Blues, AleSmith, Avery, Central Waters, Firestone Walker, Surly, Three Floyds, if we are including BBA, RIS stouts.

    Cheers!

That I’ve tried, I’d say Prairie, Founders, The Bruery, Bells and Goose Island. No access to the east coast stuff.
