I think you are right about the "Bog". I was a post-doc in the basement of the Physics building. Good times for entertainment (blues bars, etc.) but not too good for career advancement. ( I actually referred to career).

Lots of bass makes patrons want to drink. Lots of high frequency makes them want to stab each other. I’ve been in bar bands...

But a lot of quietness makes me enjoy the communication with my friends better and to stay longer, thus having more beers. Somebody's methods are wrong, and it ain't mine.

COVID solved that in a few places I saw plexiglass between booths and bar slots isolated by it. Much quieter, like "the opposite of a Cracker Barrel" quiet.

Where is she applying to PA school? My wife is a PA here in Texas and is very well connected in that world. She's heavily involved at the state and national level in those respective organizations.

Thanks for the offer brother, I’ll DM you, maybe we can get the two girls to chat to see if there are “synergies”.

I can attest that this is accurate  Though that's coming from a flatlander because I've only lived in VT since I was 4, so take it with a grain of salt. My step-dad's got a few hundred acres in the NEK, and even retired, is out there 12 hours a day, probably having the time of his life right now in the 1 degree weather. Me? No thanks.

I have been with the same company for 39 years and they still let me come in everyday and give me money... I am an engineer in the R&D group at Ocean Spray. I also manage the pilot facility which has been a real challenge with the pandemic. I have learned more about policy type stuff than an engineer/scientist needs to know, but my team of six have remained safe and we have kept our innovation initiatives moving forward.

Just started reading this thread and want to lay out my situation. I resigned a couple weeks ago and today was my last day. 21 years in a few roles at one company, and a smidge over 50, legal publishing within a big behemoth international data company. I was adaptable and moved around during layoffs but realized so many people had been laid off over the years, the few left were burnt out and it felt better to leave on my own terms than keel over dead from stress.
