I'd argue it makes a "substantial" difference if it sells out before the posted time.

But don't mind me, I'm just bitter because everyone is putting coconut in everything now and I really don't like coconut. Bring back Catch Hell!!!

Picked up both variants this morning but passed on regular and now I'm regretting it. Anywhere in the city still have it on shelves?

I haven't seen it, but maybe it got slept on at some Binny's somewhere? The regular is top notch.

LOL, don't worry, someone complained in the HA comments about Rev doing just that. So all bases were covered there.

But they weren’t sold out before 9 at least at Lincoln- I got a full allotment with all available variants and an Apple Brandy howler at 9:08am.

What is bizarre is that a seasoned BA vet like yourself is acting like a brewery has to uphold its own “rules” to keep people happy and coming back to buy more beer. How many times did we see allotments change at the last minute, or the sale started early when we were all lined up? Half Acre did that too, plus lots of other places have done that. Did that affect sales then? Hell no.

If anything, today Half Acre created FOMO for their brand generally by the number of butthurt neckbeards complaining on social media about not getting a bottle. Plus the site didn’t crash, there were no transaction problems, and they sold all their beer in minutes.

Sounds like a win for Half Acre.

I had no interest in the Benthic release so no horse in the race (did get a case of truffles however) but they could have simply said "will be available to purchase beginning this Friday at around 9am" rather than "will be available to purchase beginning this Friday at 9am". I'm thinking they intended to release it at 9am as they stated but may have accidentally released it earlier. Only HA knows. But any hiccup with Benthic Part Deux after TruffleTock was going to get magnified and I'm sure HA would have realized that.

Once the pandemic is over, you think the breweries are just going to go "Fuck all this technology, we're making people line up around the block again, it's less headache!"

FWIW - all variants and howlers were available at 9AM when I checked.

I actually had no interest in purchasing anything today, just think it's bizarre that people would defend them doing something that is obviously not right. They can obviously do whatever they want but that doesn't make it right.

Owning butthurt neckbeards, "other breweries do it too," etc. are not justifications you should have to use to justify your actions. They could easily have said they will be available the morning of December 18th, fine. Putting a specific time out there and not sticking to it is just false advertising. Again, they can breka their own rules if they want to, doesn't mean they should or people shouldn't be upset about it even if they are neckbeards.

I think we found the crowd responsible for Walgreens no longer having big BCBS releases. "Man, so what if they released them before the time they said they were going to..."

They definitely were not available for me at Lincoln at a certain point before 9am. I put 1 Xtra, 1 Vanilla, and a 2pack of reg in my cart around 8:50. I didn’t know what was going on, so took my time looking around for other things. By the time I went to check out, the regular wasn’t available. Went back and removed it, then the Xtra wasn’t available. Finally got to check out with vanilla, so I was happy. I’m sure things became available again as carts were emptied, but there were points before 9am when they weren’t.

For the record, I don’t care about them releasing early or what I did or didn't get. I just happened to check early and was happy I did. I ain't mad at HA, even had I not been able to get something. It gave me an excuse to get Galaxy DDC which I was wanting to but unsure if I wanted to make the trip.

I finally bought a thing of truffles. Does anyone know how many there are to an order?

Weird. I selected after 6:30pm Sunday for pickup (first available I could choose), and I just got an email/text that my order is ready. [shrug]

Honestly, who cares? It's beer and there's bound to be a release in a week or two that will make everyone forget all about this one and start the groaning all over again when every Tom, Dick, & Harry missed out for reason x, y, and/or z.

I completely overlooked scheduling a time to pickup because I just wanted to be sure to get the order through and I guess I was able to pick up today too. I emailed them about it and they confirmed I did select today for pickup but they were fine with me going Sunday to pickup.

    Hey!! I resent that!

But honestly yeah, anyone trying to buy a limited release beer that isn’t on the page refreshing 10-15 minutes early isn’t too invested in landing it. You don’t just casually hop on the website at 9 and buy everything you wanted when hundreds if not thousands were trying to get the re-release. You snooze, you lose

“Right” is as subjective as you can get. It was right for the brewery for all the reasons I noted which are valid whether you like them or not. It was “right” for the people that were on the site early.

HA may have even done it on accident as other suggested, but that they owe anyone anything, even an apology, because someone else got to buy limited beer before someone else is not something I demand from a small business, especially in a pandemic. They have bigger fish to fry than worrying about this nonsense.

People can be upset by it but they just look petty and silly, which is why we all have a good laugh at the IG and FB comments every time a limited release comes along.

Yes, they do owe an apology. An apology costs absolutely nothing. Permanently alienating customers is not good for business and will cost you a significant amount of money and goodwill in the long run.
