So I got around to trying For A Spell today and for me it's the thickest Bruery stout I've had. It also has the strongest roasted malt flavors of any Bruery stouts I've had and has a nice barrel aging element to it. Think typical Bottle Logic Stasis stout for a comparison body wise.

Love the thick mouthfeel on Spell. It was also aged 18 months, great barrel character.

Not 100% positive but Antojitos Licuados may be my favorite beer of all time!

Ive checked, and I still can’t see much of what’s being talked about. I guess I’m looking in the wrong place

This is the only Peter Veeder post I could find, just wanted to add my review as I'm drinking my included bottle tonight - it's really, really good, maybe my favorite of all the BT-wine hybrids. I'm not sure if I'd call the BT "forward" (though I also don't have the memory to compare with previous versions to that level of detail), but what really strikes me about it is how the components aren't so individually identifiable - it's a really well-balanced beverage (wine? beer? idk) that integrates the range of flavors between these two things perfectly. This is a great example of something that adds up to more than the sum of its parts.

That said, man, $60 is a lot, I wish it was a little cheaper so I could load up. I could get two BT boxes for the price of the 8 Peter Veeders in my allocations!

Based on all of your feedback I am going to grab a "For a Spell". Very intrigued now....

Love the Feedback! Would love some overall thoughts on our beer/wine projects! We're very passionate about them.

I'm enjoying the beer/wine releases. I am not well versed in wines, so part of me feels like a sucker when I drop this much... but I put a lot of faith and trust in The Bruery to be curating good quality.

I feel like there are tons of bourbon/spirit treated beers out there, so the appeal of paying a bunch for a Grand Reserve is diminished... wheres the beer/wine stuff feels more unique.

Would love to see some non-sour white wine blends (with light Belgians or IPAs).

Anyone else drinking their 12 days of Xmas box as an advent calendar? How are you liking it so far? I started from 12 Drummers so I just popped 5 Golden Rings tonight.

I had the full vertical of the non-BA ones last year and I think I prefer those to the fresh barrel aged box.

Opened a Bierbara. It's still way sweeter than I want it to be, but didn't seem over the top this time. Maybe I was just more prepared for it? Maybe it's starting to mellow. In any case, I think it's great and I'm bummed I missed out on the crowler (and that there weren't a couple archive bottles). Feels very festive, I hope I can share one with family or friends next year.

Only three more drinking nights 'til Christmas...

Since my great experience with Peter Veeder made me curious, I opened an Elizabeth Rutherford tonight.

While it would offer more clarity to try them side by side rather than two nights apart, my sense is that Veeder had a stronger cabernet component; with Liz, I taste the stout side of it more (though the fact it's two years old could also make a difference). I think that difference also affects my perception of the texture, in that the lack of carbonation is more enjoyable the more it feels like you're drinking a wine. Elizabeth Rutherford is _good_, but I'm not like "wow" drinking this at the same level I was with Peter Veeder.

It's also possible that the difference is Patrick picking some really killer grapes, who knows

I started the month off that way. Tried opening both BA and non-BA on the same night, but that was too much. Ended up saving half of the BA for the next day. Made it through 12, 11, and 10 in the first week, but ended up taking a brake.

I too found to like the non-BA more with 11 and 10. With the BA treatment, they kind of start tasting the same. I did find that the non-BA 12 was a little tobacco forward and I liked that the BA treatment tempered that a bit.

That's a hell of a commitment trying to open both on the same night. Completely agreed on them all tasting somewhat the same. I liked the BA 10, 8, and 7, but most of the others have been a miss for me. Really wasn't a fan of 5 Golden Rings in particular, which I had yesterday. Looking forward to 4CB tonight.

Ended up opening a 2018 Sunday Sundae afterward and that was drinking pretty good right now! Still got some heat on it and the vanilla seemed a bit muted, but very tasty nonetheless.
