    look: 3.75 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4

    Light, somewhat cloudy amber-orange body topped with a thin yet lasting fizzy head. Dry wood smell with a touch of cranberry. Cranberry and orange flavor dominate the taste; tart; bare trace of cinnamon. Medium body; tangy and acidic; juicy with a touch of dryness, mostly near the finish.

    The beer delivers a nice tart and sweet holiday fruit taste. The barrel and foeder aging are most noticeable in the aroma although a bit shows up in the mouthfeel with a very light dryness. The orange and cranberry blend nicely together and are not overpowering. This is a fine version of Upslopes annual (and ever-changing) Christmas ales.

    Tripel Dog Dare, Great Lakes Brewing company’s holiday Belgian ale and homage toA Christmas Story. Cross-posted to holiday beer tasting.

    Citrus, honey, Clove, banana and other spices are featured in this 9% ale. Definitely on the boozy end of the spectrum and not balanced by sweetness as is a tendency of some other examples of the style. I think that choice was a good call. Carbonation dissipated rather quickly as did the foam. Overall a good but not great tripel.

    Dankful a 7.4 ABV West Coast IPA from Sierra Nevada. Dankful is a recent release from SN that showed up in a store by me this week. Nice brew

    Sweet, overripe tropical fruit nose. Another murky milky deep gold snow globe. Sweet fruit juice box taste. No bitterness. Full, phat, pillowy. Mild hop burn. I’m going to guess that this beer may be the tits for folks who like this sort of thing...really well made and is sweet and tasty...overall just not in a way that I find pleasurable for an IPA, to me...and I could do without the snow globe...not hating, just saying...Cheers!

    Wax Wings The Pomona Project: Rataba (fruited Berliner w/ raspberry, tangerine, and banana). Heard great stuff about these guys so I’m pumped to give them a shot. Made the trip up to Kalamazoo, MI today to grab some cans.
    Straight fruit smoothie as expected, pulp and all. Plenty of raspberry and tangerine with banana more in the background. Literally has the mouthfeel and body of a smoothie. Super fun and delicious.
