Have a good Tuesday. I am off again tonight. My gf needs to go home late in the morning to get ready for work at 2. I bought the Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ bundle yesterday and they automatically refunded whatever I already pay for hulu per month which is nice. We watch Toy Story 4 at Noon as we haven’t seen it and it was awesome. Then I downloaded Die Hard and we watched that all the way to 4PM while snuggling under a blanket. Probably going to get a late breakfast later. I ate nothing last night, but junk food (Muddy Buddies, TGIFriday potato skin chips, and 2 Reeses Candy bars) late in the morning. I went to sleep at 5PM after the movies and slept til 10PM. We were supposed to go to Hoppin Frog last night, but I woke up and it was too late, so I slept until 4AM next to her and now here we are.

Found the Spiegelau glass set one of my best store friends gave to me for xmas last year. I had been going there in Lake Orion basically weekly since 2014. Haven't heard from him in a while now. Still need to get a new store to go to in Ohio.

Great Lakes Hazecraft. Got a 6 pack weeks ago, but its best by 12/7/20. Perfectly fine, and been refrigerated the whole time so that's even better. This was excellent. Lasting fluffy head retention/foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big lemon, orange, white grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, honey dew melon, berry, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, light toast, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; balanced creamy/bready malts, sticky hops, and some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness. No hop astringency. Feels like hazy version of a Midwest IPA, but that's just fine with me. Simcoe, Azacca, Lemondrop hops. Balanced between dank and juicy hops; with a nice sized wheat/oat/malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. GLBC rarely misses I'd say. 4.03

I really should browse my followed artists on Spotify more often. Tons of amazing bands.

    Tonewood Fuego.
    6.2% ABV. NeIPA.
    Oaklyn, New Jersey

I’ve been hearing from a lot of people that this is the best IPA in New Jersey. It’s been around a couple years now so here goes.

You see what it looks like. The smell right away is un ripe guava. If you’ve ever eaten a real guava, it tastes like that plus the bitter skin. Straight up. There’s a touch of mango stank behind it but this guava is incredibly violent and the hops dominate. I don’t know if I could say “doughy malts” because this is such a hop driven beer.... it’s a bit hard to pick up a malt characteristic at this time but it is not a palate wrecker. There is a tiny amount of balance as to not destroy your tongue and face. For being so murky, this IPA is thin but not watery (not lush like most in the style) but creamy in a way for being thin. Similar to textures of skim or almond milk. The hop bitterness lives through out the sip but does not linger. It is a dry IPA, seemingly west coast with the New England type flavor profile. At 2 weeks old I’d say it would even benefit from mellowing out around 4-6 weeks for more balance. 30 something IBUs listed feel like 80. Which is fine in the aspect that this is very green....still which some like. You’ll never hear a complaint over freshness. I could only imagine the DDH version of this available.

If you want my opinion, after my first time with this, this is the best bang for the buck IPA made in New Jersey. $12 six packs of an aggressive IPA with characteristics of both West Coast and New England is hard to beat. If you have it available to you I recommend this and look in the cooler section. I know a ton of spots obligated to keep this refrigerated if they want to even carry it at all.

I try not to take things so seriously. Especially beer because it loses it’s fun and magic that way but I will try to speak more of the beer itself here rather than others things.

    peace.

Thanks for kicking things off Ian. I dropped pay TV after the Larry Sanders Show concluded, and don't watch much TV beyond a few PBS documentaries each year. Should spend more time reading books instead of browsing, hope that is one of several successful 2021 resolutions.

Clearing straggler Summer beers, and this is one of two remaining Lake Effect Summer Porter bottles (no label, it's a small brewery though they label most beers), poured into their branded nonic glass.

Not sure how I made it a lifetime without encountering this song until a few minutes ago on our local Jazz station. Sweet Baby Jesus!

Good day BAs! Thanks @superspak for starting today's thread. Yes - Diehard - the only christmas movie I actually watch. Mrs. Lizard watches ALL the crap movies on the estrogen channels and records them as well. They say the mind is the first to go.

Kind of drizzling this morning but staying above freezing for another day or two - screw you winter! Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Apparently there are assholes that actually care about some things that aren't beer, but this has always been a share what you are enjoying thread for me all the time. Shit I'm sorry I like enjoying my life in more that a few ways. Deal with it bitch.

Yet I can review "malt beverages" that aren't really beer on the site. Not that I care, sometimes a tasty buzz is all I need. This was really nice. Aromas and flavors of big black cherries, fruit skin/pits, green apples, citrus, grain, white sugar syrup, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light herbal/grassy bitterness and alcohol spiciness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Lightly creamy/syrupy/sticky mouthfeel. No cloying sweetness. Minimal warming 8%, and a bit refreshing. Would buy again. Will have to seek out other flavors to review lol. I have already had all of them on Untappd though. 3.97

Good morning, BAs! Enjoying some rare Tuesday drinking thanks to the holiday. This is a ddh citra, mosaic, and simcoe ipa from Timber Ales. As with most of their ipas, this doesn’t blow me away, but it’s pretty, pretty good.

@Insomniac speaking of Sloan, they do tour down here from time to time, in super small clubs. In fact I saw them play in February, the last show I saw before covid hit. One of the best shows I’ve been to. My shitty camera pic from that show:
