What have people been getting in their Revolution's 'Deep Wood Mystery Bag'? I figured since it was within a click's distance from other stuff I was getting, I'd take a shot at two random 12oz Deep Wood cans and hope for the best.

My last one was 2019 Honey Jacket & Vanilla Deth. I was pleased.

Do you have enough Rev coasters to open up a bar now?

    2019 Honey Jacket & 2018 Ryeway
The honey jacket had a bootleg looking label on it which was amusing.

I found Ryeway And Mindshift at AH Binny’s today, I didn’t think Mindshift was getting released outside of Rev

I get calling it Mineshift. Or Mindshaft.

    But Mindshift is truly impressive!

    @mbockstruck30 maybe I was wrong.

(This post is meant in drunken jest, no hard feelings!)

Yeah it was one of the limited distro beers (along with Deth by Cherries).

Yes - great beer! But I hope you didn't buy it at Binny's for $45.99!?! (Rev release was $40)
Okay, sure - the distributor's need their cut.
And Binny's needs to make some money.
And $6 extra is worth the time and effort to avoid driving downtown to get the beer.
But GEEZ...that's a big markup. (not knowing Binny's cost, of course)
But hey, supply and demand, right?

Clearly... You don't pay tolls picking up these releases...

Good call on that! I just went to the IL tollway site and from Oswego I'm paying $4.25 in tolls each way. Of course, I make sales appointments on the release days to get reimbursed for tolls and mileage, and I'm on presale with all the $$ I've spent at Rev, so it's totally worth it for me.
BUT that is clearly NOT the case for everyone, so everyone's gotta do what they gotta do!
The beer is fantastic, and even at Binny's price, is worth it IMO.
Cheers - and Merry Christmas to all!

I actually paid $39.99 at a dive liquor store before tax.

It could clear the room of other beer podcasts (like Beervana), except for (maybe) "This Week In Rauchbier".
As I scribed elsewhere here on BA, quantities of Deep Wood beers are out on the floor at Binny's River Grove. Yes, I did wind up paying $44.99 for Deth By Cherries; but I did not expect to even see it there. {Mind message: "Get it, Steve."} :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
I opted to not quote the entire newspaper article from 2011 into here, only to edit it down to the paragraph where it was uttered that Revolution's beers would initially only be available in metropolitan Chicago.
Because Revolution's beers are now being exported to Japan, including venues where I have visited. If and when we ever have another bottle share, I'll bring along a copy of "Japan Beer Times" so you can glimpse the Revolution advert.:beers:

I hope there are hysterical losses of translation in those adverts. Like if Deep Woods: Deth by Cherries translated into Japanese comes out something like “Below Forest: Poisonous Berries”

2020 Ryeway to Heaven is excellent.

Not surprising, but nice to confirm.

I had a cafe deth last night , and while still excellent I got a green pepper / vegetal note on the nose. I don’t remember this when I had a can fresh. The vegetal note was more prominent when the beer was colder (50F or so), when I can back to it a few hours later it had mostly gone away.

anyone else getting this? Or maybe the green pepper was there all along and I missed it?

I just had one this week and had no pepper aroma or taste, or from aged Cafe Deth from 2017, or the Supermassive Deth from a few weeks ago. I have experienced this from other brewery offerings over time.

Glad it was just the aroma with no taste impact for you.
