Happy Boxing Day one and all! In for some footy this weekend including Liverpool on the Spanish station on Sunday. Starting the early morning off with a spot of tea, Kilogram Tea to be exact, residing in the rest of my Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Kentucky Fog Stout, ten ounces of which I poured nearly 8 hours ago.

I sealed it earlier with my new thoughtful Christmas present from my brother based on a discussion a few weeks earlier regarding avoiding imperial stout bombers because of size and strength dual concerns. Worked great, beer tastes fresh including carbonation, much obliged.

    Cheers!

Ever since I started my job, I have had to work every December 26. Like I’m sure a lot of families do, this is the day that my kids will be playing with their new toys all day long, nobody in the house will go anywhere, and we will all probably stay in pajamas the whole day. And I have hated missing it the last three years. So since Saturday is normally my day off, I get to stay home and enjoy it. And between that and it being Boxing Day, I have decided to do a maple beer vertical. I have two locals and two from MI. This could take all day and end with me taking a nap at some point. Happy Saturday, advocates!

[IMG] This brewery has been in NH for less than 2 weeks and I can’t explain how happy I am about that. Cheers all.

Thanks @dcotom for starting today's thread. Greetings to all who have survived another shopping season - the lights just went out twice so some driver or the snow just took down a power line - winter's officially here! The router just rebooted and the aquarium pumps sucked air - the turtles are not amused! Today's post-xmas New Breakfast Beer:

Poznan Piwo from Voodoo Brewing. Purchased 9/23/20 for $ 4.00 (Including tax) for 16 oz can ($ 0.25/oz) from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. In reefer at store and stored at home at 42 degrees. Reviewed 12/26/20.
Marked on bottom of can “BEST BY 02/18/21”. Served at 45.5 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. Final temperature 49.6 degrees.
    Appearance – 3.5.
First pour – Pale straw (SRM 2), clear.
Body – Straw (SRM 3), slight haze. When held to direct light, same.
Head – Large (Maximum 4.2 cm, aggressive center pour), white, high density, average retention, leaving a three to four mm undulating crown fed by effervescence, and a rocky, thin complete cap. Second pour produces a 0.5 cm head.
Lacing – Poor. A few islands of tiny bubbles remain on the glass.
Aroma – 3.5 – Initially moderately strong smell of grain and floral hops, no malt, no yeast. Quickly weakens.
Flavor – 3.5 – Begins with slightly sweet grain, and light hops, no yeast. Ends lightly sweet with a bit of malt coming through. No alcohol (6.3 % ABV, as marked on container) taste or aroma. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Thin, watery, lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.5. Better than Bud Light but also much more expensive. Nice label.
    Rating 3.5, rDev -2.8%.

I guess on after a July lawn-mowing session this would be OK but for now, a mite weak and flavorless.

Have a good Saturday. Hey @dcotom how many years of 12 days of Christmas thread starters are you on now? Worked another 8.5 hours to live in poverty. I am going to go to guitar center when they open, hope I don't regret the traffic. I need to get some heavy gauge slinky strings for my stratocaster(drop C), and I want to get a single coil size humbucker for my bridge position. I might have to rewire it, but I'll just borrow my dad's soldering iron since he lives 15 minutes away. I didn't have a family Christmas as I slept all afternoon and had to go to work at 10PM.

I had this for lunch at 3AM. It was not as good as Mcrib, but satisfying enough.

My dad stopped by after I was already at work and dropped off the family Christmas things he had so far. I got food gift cards from my dad, and I always love some food. Also got some checks and holiday cards.

Great as usual. A bit old now.

    Cheers

Listening all night to one of the best bands.

I finally broke down and purchased a gift set of two vintages of barrel-aged Old Rasputin along with two glasses. Trying this XXII aged in rye barrels first. Making notes for NBW now.

Cheers all and enjoy your Saturday!

I believe this is my fifth year of doing these, and I have enjoyed every one of them. I appreciate all of the kind and thoughtful comments I have received along the way. May you all have a Merry Christmas season!

It’s been 43° most of the morning, definitely jacket weather for the dog walk. I ate and drank too much yesterday, and with any luck, will do so again today! First up, Hoppin’ Frog’s Maple Whiskey Barrel-Aged B.O.R.I.S. :

Best By Nov. 8, 2023. Poured at 56°. I’m surprised to find as much sweet dark fruit; otherwise, roast malt, maple and whiskey. Working on notes for NBW. Cheers and have a great Saturday y’all!

Not much of a hazy IPA guy but this from Hailstorm is pretty good, won't argue about a triple IPA!

Morning! Enjoying a pilsner from Melvin as we ready the truck with gear. Probably the last wood cutting day of the year. Snow in the Hills is making access tough.

    Cheers to all .....
