Traditional Milk/Sweet Stouts from the UK are certainly there, remember some under 3% ABV,

Phenomenal box - like exceptionally phenomenal. I suspect that we have very similar tastes in beers, specifically in what we like most (hops!).

I'm gonna hit you with some Midwest hops once this shipping mess settles down. Fair is fair. IJS.

Glad to read this because I have a Bourbon Paradise in my cellar fridge for the future. One thing I'm gonna have to change is restricting these big stouts to one per night. Preceding the BA Weekend with an Old Rasputin was ultimately less than ideal.

To be clear I agree the BA made it better. Maybe I phrased it awkwardly by saying aging instead of cellaring. Sláinte.

Happy New Year to you and yours! I had fun trying to figure out what the heck you'd sent. I'm always second guessing myself when I try beers blind, so it was good to get close-ish on two of them. That last one was weird - I didn't even identify it as a saison because I was so confused.

Lake Effect Brewing's Chocolate Cake Stout, a barrel aged imperial chocolate stout.

500ml bottle served in a pair of big snifters. Only date on it appears to be the year, 2020. Probably got it on Tavour.

Pours black, little head or carbonation. Smell is dark roast coffee and dark chocolate. Anise.

Taste is chocolate, maybe with a little hint of cherry, light vanilla, somewhat boozy. Roast bitterness balances out moderate to high sweetness.

Mouthfeel is medium, dry. Overall, nice beer. Makes me think a little of chocolate cake, and is still enjoyable as a beer and not a bottle of syrup.

Not at all necessary. Holidays probably drained us all. Glad you enjoyed it.

FWIW, I've seen it in NY recently so chances are that you'll be able to get some closer to home.

Sorry I didn't see this until today. After I saw your past tense reference to it with the Hoarder's BT reserve, I decided to snoop a little. You tagged me, but with an apostrophe, so I didn't get the heads up.
I am very impressed with your fiancee's spot on call out. DAMNNNN!!! Glad you liked it.

Yeah I wasn't sure on the apostrophe, but I was on my phone (I normally put a space between a tagged name and any punctuation, just in case - and now I know for sure!).

She nailed it - of course, right after saying something to the effect of, "I don't really get much. I don't have a complex palate like you all do." So she not only nailed it, she humble bragged it, as well! :grinning:

Ah, definitely misunderstood what you were driving at. Yea, cellaring never made any prairie beer better - totally agree there!

Unfortunately, this isn't my first rodeo. Still, this just feels so good and so right. The last one felt wrong - wrong for each other, really - but we managed to drag it out for 14 years (legally; we separated after 10). I got two perfect children out of the trip, but I can't say it "worked," or that I particularly enjoyed it.

Things are looking much better this time around (says the guy who never expected to get remarried).

Glad you were apparently able to open that without revealing the label. When I wrapped that up, I wasn't thinking about how difficult it would be to open it without revealing the contents. Hope it wasn't too much of a pain in the ass for you!

Mystery beer from @jvgoor3786 during BIF 12.5.
I actually knew the name of the beer but had no idea what it was, so it worked as intended.
Poured a viscous black with almost no head, ochre lacing dissipated but never disappeared.
The aroma was malts and plum and maybe cherries(?) and oh so inviting.
Taste followed aroma and added barrel aging into the mix. Cherry, if there, is very faint.
The impression is a BA quad, but the color insists on stout.
So BA stout with stone fruit maybe?

I look it up and I am still not certain- BDCS from Ozark Brewing Co. they state that it’s a Double Cream Stout and I didn’t get close to that. And it’s not BA? It certainly gives that impression. Or maybe I just looked up the wrong beer. In any case, thoroughly enjoyed and was sad when the glass was empty. Very good, would gladly drink again.

    Hello Again Late Night NBW
As I mentioned yesterday, the generosity of some of our very own frequent flyers here do not cease to amaze. @JayORear blessed me with some beautiful beers, but this one...This one is beyond measure.

This is a beauty. Swirl of peachy haze. The most ethereal fluff exceeds my glass, necessitating a quick inhale of the most sublime olfactory kiss, completely captivating palate, nose and heart. The nose is lush with floral orange, peach, creamy oats, and a gentle herbal spice. The flavor imbues all of this, and more. My maw is awash in juicy orange cream soda, key lime pie, fresh wet grass, honeydew melon, and a waltz of mango and peach that ebbs and flows as the undercurrent to the aforementioned more dominant flavors. A creamy sweetness/texture struts around the whole time. Bliss. It's fluffy, active, and graceful...Gossamer in its presence and nuance.
    F#*king inspired.

It is barrel aged. It's actually the only beer from Arkansas on the top 250 list. The Ozark Cream Stout I sent is the base beer. BDCS stands for Bourbon Double Creme Stout. It's a once a year release. Glad you enjoyed it! It's certainly one I look forward to and enjoy sending out in trades.

I peeled the top back and saw the color of the top and spilled a bit of beer. Yes I had to work not to peel it down too much!
